Word has it the ever-voracious Hendrick Motorsports is about to sink its teeth into even more talent. Kasey Kahne just announced he won't be renewing his contract with Richard Petty Motorsports at the end of this year, meaning the guy probably has his eyes set on making his way to the same team as Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the rest. Needless to say, the internet is rife with rumors of the move.

Kahne currently pilots the No. 9 Budweiser car, and has snapped up 11 wins during his time as a pro-driver. Despite deciding not to re-up with Richard Petty Motorsports, the King himself had nothing but praise and well-wishes for Kahne, so it doesn't look like anyone's left on bad terms.

The only hitch in Kahne's rumored move to Hendrick lies in the fact that the team doesn't have an open slot at the moment, meaning a current Hendricks driver would have to be eying another opportunity elsewhere. That doesn't sound overly likely to us, especially considering that most of the drivers are locked into contracts that run well beyond Kahne's supposed 2012 sign-on deal.

This was a surprise to me, but a very good move for Kasey. He's a good driver and a perfect fit with Hendrick in order to imprive his career. I feel in order for him to improve he needs the right team behind him and RCR just doesn't do it.

Rx8 - I read that he'll be take hold of the number 5 car. so it would seem either that Mark will be finally retiring or move to a new team. And seeing that Stewart-Haas have ties with Hendrick and Stewart looking for a third driver. I would think he would move over with Stewart and Newman.

Kasey is one of those "what if" drivers, people say he would be much better if he had better equipment.

But then again, people said the same thing about Earnhardt Jr. and he sucks at Hendrick.

Would be interesting to see him go to the Hendrick-supported team, Stewart Haas Racing... As a former USAC winner, he'd be in good company as a teammate to Stewart and Newman.

"to the same team as Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and *the rest*."

Uh, the rest would include 4 time champion Jimmie Johnson. That's quite an omission there, AB.

Don't worry, next season they'll alter the line to be "...and the Professor and Mary-Ann"
