2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor – Click above for high-res image gallery

Ford's desert-clobbering SVT Raptor is already off to a relatively good start, and things are only poised to get better now that the automaker has shoehorned its new 6.2-liter V8 under the truck's hood. Adding to that, the folks at InsideLine report that a four-door SuperCrew version of the Raptor is also in the cards, possibly slated to debut later this year.

IL states that mules of what appear to be a SuperCrew Raptor have been spotted near Ford's headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. When prompted for a response, a spokesperson for the automaker simply said, "We do not comment on future product." (We've heard that one a thousand times before.) Still, we don't dispute IL's predictions, and having four-door functionality only boosts the Raptor's attractiveness to potential consumers.

It wouldn't hurt to reach a broader base.

4 Doors outsell 2 doors, period!
The trohpy price $$$$$ demands 4 doors.

To-bad, 4door short bed F150s are one of the ugliest things around.

While they probably need to do this to get more sales, the bigger size really defeats the performance of this model. I'd say the xtra-cab version is near perfect for a 'stock' sand-stormer.

The reality is, many customers were complaining/asking their dealers for a SuperCrew version. Seems that Ford actually listens to their "suggestion box". If they offered it with the short 5.5' bed, I could see it performing just fine. And it may even perform better in the desert, with the longer wheelbase smoothing out the ride over bumps/jumps.

That being said, I'd love to see a regular cab version too. Might as well complete the lineup. Give it an exclusive FlareSide bed and price it at $32k with the 6.2. I'd buy one!

@bigjaydogg3: How is that wrong approach? That's the best approach an automaker can make.
        1) Customers want SuperCrew.
        2) CrewCab is not being discontinued.
        Everybody will be happy.

I can't say I'm terribly surprised, though I think the Raptor should be decreasing in length, not increasing.

I remember reading at one point that the US Border Patrol was interested in adding some Raptors to their fleet. Maybe they're looking for something that can hold more than 2 agents at a time?
