2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI – Click above to view the video after the jump

Yes, the wing is back, and with it comes even more of the adrenal gland-kicking performance we know and love from the Subaru WRX STI. Fuji Heavy Industries will have you believe this is the fastest STI ever, and judging by the fact that the 2011 model weighs less and uses a revised suspension, they may be right. Sure, there's no extra horsepower on tap, but why add ponies when you can shed pounds?

The company has released a new teaser for the four-door version (2011 will let you pick between the STI wagon and sedan), and we have to say the wide body treatment and that rear wing do much to give the latest WRX body some attitude. Sure, we wouldn't call it pretty, but that's an adjective we reserve for the intake on that devilish little turbo boxer four. Hit the jump to see the flick.

It doesn't matter what new STI will look like, EVERYONE will hate the way it looks. That is untill the next gen STi comes out and everyone will start liking the old one.

Its kinda growing on me with the wing... gotta see it in person.

The base Impreza looks like a Corolla. So every bit helps.
Disagree... I always thought the hatchback sti had a Ford Focus meets Subaru look... now the sedan (with the wing) brings back the traditional WRX sti look. However, I still see a Focus look more than Toyota.

        I take it back,

Wing delete, rear lip spoiler + ground effects + fender flares = good looking car (for a Subaru)

Nice job not moving the ball very far, Subaru!

      :unimpressed:

Can't even put this 5-year old drivetrain in a sexy-looking sleek coupe of a car that would at least be nice to look at, as well as decent to drive... Let alone actually raising the performance or $-value bars.

"Still no reason to get this over an Evo" Sure there is: It's not made by Mitsubishi.

^^^ Typical Subaru owner living under a rock... my favorite type of car "enthusiast" ^.^

a fanboy calling someone else a fanboy. the irony

1:00 - 1:06 is total car porn. I forgot it was possible to make car commercials for car people. That said I'm not really impressed. Leave it to Evo to surpass the STI, though still fail in sales stateside. Plus I imagine next year's STI will be even more hideous.

All in all, this is a Subaru. The BEST 4WD system on the market, and it is an Sti boxer engine. When you think about Mitsubishi...

What kind of credibility can someone bank on mitsubishi when they bring out garbage cars like the ECLIPSE, OUTLANDER, etc. - c'mon... really? mitsubishi isn't even in subaru's league.

As for the new look, It's great, it looks just as mean as any sti out there, and they needed it because the LANEVO is so aggressive.
You have no idea what you're talking about. The Evo's drivetrain is fantastically engineered.

        And I'm a Subaru fanboy.
I agree, But i wasn't referring to the evo, i was talking about mitsubishi vs subaru in general fanboy.

Did they axe the Brembos? Why do the front brakes look so small? They look like standard WRX brakes.
this just look too much like a toy. it's childish to me.
Probably looks small because they're black.

        Ironic?
they're still have the same brembos its just painted black this gen

Still no reason to get this over an Evo... plus a '10 GSR is cheaper and still performs better, and looks much better...

The fastest STI ever they say... why cause it increased 2mph top speed? whatever... still needs to look better and it needs to improve its handling... I guess it's only a matter of time till Edmunds or C&D test drive the handling capabilities of the '11 STI.... till then, blah... didn't even blink with that ad

Hey Sandok: Agree with the majority of what you said... especially the exhaust note of the Subaru. However, when SUBARU adds a "C" to their corporate name you can call the WRX sti a "SCoobie" until then its a SUBIE. eh!!!

Boxer: A lot of BMW car owners call their rides BEEMers too (the term for their bikes...)
I'm looking into the Scoobie vs. Evo, seeing as I might want to purchase a new car come 6 to 10 months and here at least, the Scoobie is far cheaper with more kit than the Evo.

Not only that, but the hatchback styling has grown on me and when it comes to engines, I prefer large amounts of torque over a revvy engine. Plus that boxer growl is amazing!

It might not be as nimble or precise as an Evo, but it's much easier to live with and the Subaru we currently own (a slow automatic) is the most reliable car ever created. Ever.

        Ruh-roh... Azzo's gettin' upset about a colloquialism. [/scooby-doo]

I'd be much more upset about the fact that the car looks like it does, than someone using a slang term that is pretty common, and not meant as a derogatory term.

Lots of Subaru owners off-the-cuff use "scoobie" to refer in jest to their cars. Honestly there are a lot of other battles to pick. With this new STI alone, even.
