Chevrolet Cruze WTCC Build – Click above to watch the time-lapse video

Ah, the World Touring Car Championship. Whereas we Americans are led to believe that 35 identical cars with different sticker packages, all running around in circles for 500 miles somehow constitutes "stock car" racing, our cousins in Europe treat themselves to something entirely different. They pit production-based cars from just about every automaker out there against each other on a slew of very demanding road courses. As you might expect, carnage ensues, but so does some of the best fender-to-fender action found anywhere.

The crew from Ray Mallock, Ltd. have released a time-lapse video showing exactly what goes into turning a body-in-white Chevrolet Cruze into something fit for competition. Weeks of hard work gets distilled into a little under two minutes worth of entertainment. Who doesn't love technology? Make the jump to see the video.

Very cool! And the car looks great.

That photo made me think we'd be seeing a reprise of the Volt Dance...

My thoughts exactly. GM keeps putting out these cheese ball promotions. Makes me feel embarrassed for them. This video isn't nearly as horrible as that dance I shall not name.

      Typo on the title, guys.

That being said, bring production-based car racing back to NA! I still remember staying up until 2:00 AM to watch rally-car racing on SPEED. Those were the days...

To have something called a Camry with rear drive and a v8 is just silly. They lost me a very long time ago as a fan. Touring cars looks to be very exciting.

I'm always impressed how tidy they keep the floor. I have stuff lying around even with something as simple as an oil change.

Front end looks agressive! You can watch rally racing on HD theatre also

The exhaust manifold on that car looks real good. As does the entire front end.

I am a big fan of WTCC and the BTCC. It is a shame that the only way to watch both series properly is torrents in the US. The 1 hr BTCC shows on Speed don't count.

That is a nice looking sedan, and I would love to see that series at a place like Elkhart.

...and I want the WRCC hatch concept toned down for the Cruze Coupe

i love wtcc and, btcc is my fave of those 2. kinda peeved that AB would take a shot at my ultimate fave auto-sport series nascar, but hey i guess when your the most popular, and because of how its not too someones liking, theres bound to be resentment.

nascar needs to do 1 thing.

make the damn cars look like street cars. i know that will be hard since at most tracks nascar constantly run an average speed of over 170 MPH. so they should at least for short tracks(richmond, martinsville, maybe bristol, pheonix, ext) and road-races(circuit gilles, watkinsglenn, sonoma, road america, ext) have the cars look like street cars!!!!!
