Scion Reinvent the Wheels – Click above to watch the first episode after the break

Scion has waded into the reality TV kiddie pool with a new Web series called Reinvent the Wheels. Think of it as Pimp My Ride meets Top Chef. Six contestants were chosen from a pool of hundreds of entrants, all vying for a chance to modify a Scion xB into the perfect car to further their career goals. Two film makers, two DJs a special-effects makeup artist and a pastry chef all presented their designs to a panel of judges in episode one, and will commence to build their visions over the next few shows.

Is it riveting internet entertainment? We'll leave that for you to decide, but we will say we can't wait to see some of the finished products come to life. While we're down with a remote-controlled camera jib and in-dash film-editing software, the thought of a karaoke bar on wheels is enough to leave us pining for some of Xzibit's creations. Hop the jump for a look at the first episode.

The next phase of Scion...trying to be "cool" and fit in with the "kids" out there. EPIC FAIL if this is not an April fools joke.

i just don't think Autoblog has the cash for a joke with this much production. If so, then please put the money to better use like with car review videos.

You guys really hate scion huh?

      Wait a minute!
Are you telling me all I need to do to be cool is go for the
I'm-a-30-something-and-i-haven't-shaved-in-4-days-look-and-i-buy-my-shirts-at-goodwill and then buy a Scion.

Thanks for saving me Toyota. I was going to buy a 2011 Mustang GT!
Um, there isn't a single scion, even almost fully loaded, that costs more than even a base model mustang.

that said, who would actually want to identify themselves with these dumbasses? None of the contestants nor judges know anything about cars. wtf lol.

If Scion is so hip, so cool so made for the youth....then why is even the next TC so damn boring?

      Toyota has no designing clue.

"Two film makers, two DJs a special-effects makeup artist and a pastry chef"

However no one with any automotive experience? Also, no black dude?

This is nothing more than a bunch or hipsters sifting through a Scion parts catalog for bolt on ricer parts. LAME!
What, you want someone that actually know about cars? Then they might actually like driving instead of having a pastry kitchen in the back of their car. And people that like driving wouldn't choose a Scion (any of them from the tC(amry) to the xB(ox)).

New slogan: "Scion. Look like you like cars, by modding your car into everything except a good car!"

I hope its a april fools joke. If not..... hahahahahaha! This is really going to suck!
Wait, this is actually serious?! I thought this was Autoblog's April Fool's post!
Yup, it's April and those are the fools.
Still hoping it is an April fools joke. O.o

If not, it's simply an attempt to 'Reinvent Marketing to Scion's Potential Buyer Demographic".

As if Scion could not get any more lame.

Reminds me of the Homer Simpson car design process.

Starring Ed Helms and John Malcovitch along with a cast of nobodies, Scion's attempt at reaching younger audiences is as convincing as Travolta and Newton-John in a 2010 remake of "Grease".

      Awesome April Fools' joke.

If it isn't, then Toyota deserves to sell Scions exclusively to baby boomers in the throes of midlife crises.

"If it isn't, then Toyota deserves to sell Scions exclusively to baby boomers in the throes of midlife crises."

Wait, isn't that what they've been doing all along? Personally, I have yet to see anyone driving a Scion who appears to be under the age of 35.

Scion: We missed our target audience by so far we accidentally hit another one!
