Dodge Ram Power Wagon spy shots – Click above for high-res image gallery

We just told you that that Chrysler will be launching four new "Moparized" vehicles later this month, and our spies have already caught one of these new vehicles – the Dodge Ram Power Wagon – on the streets of southeast Michigan.

Unlike the Power Wagon that's just now hitting dealers, this is a totally unique package, featuring a single-cab configuration with a short, style-side bed. The huge off-road tires and exaggerated wheel arches lead us to believe that this is Chrysler's answer to the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor (if only in concept form), and our spies tell us that this prototype "made hair-raising sounds" as it drove by, leading us to believe that the 383-horsepower Hemi V8 is underhood.

We can't wait to see the production version on March 27 at the 44th Annual Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. If these spy shots are anything to go off of, it looks like it'll be serious fun for desert storming.

Not a desert racer I guess. More off a rock crawler.

Some of the dumbest comments anywhere....the ram power wagon and ford raptor are meant for very different things and you can like both....yes that crazy isn't it? They are both nice trucks. If I'm in the woods, towing, or crawling I'll take a power wagon, if I'm pre running, or general off reading I'll take a raptor. Some of you are pathetic 13 year old fan boys who need to grow up and learn to enjoy more than one of anything invcluding trucks.

WEAK. The Raptor will DEVOUR this hunk of garbage.

I guess we can all stop worrying! It looks like the engineers behind the Pontiac Aztek have finally found a new job. Good lord, the Ram's styling was getting better and better with each design change. The '06 Ram is one of best looking trucks and one of the best looking vehicles on the road. Then in '09 the styling took a serious hit for the worse, and now Chrysler seems to be going out of its way to turn the truck into an eyesore. Isn't it bad enough they already ruined the Dakota?

      Look at it. This Ram...

      * continues the downturn in styling begun in '09.
      * is plastered with globs and globs of black plastic.
      * has that ugly bed that looks like the ribcage of an anorexic teen girl
      * has a bed that looks thinner than the smallest of pickups for no other reason than to maintain that awful anorexic look.

Is it any wonder Chrysler is in the trouble that it's in?

        Thank you for your opinion.

Many people happen to think the '09 -later Rams look very good. It's definitely a new HD front end and suspension. Not my cup-o-tea, but that is irrelevant. I highly doubt this would ever be builtm and if they did, I'm sure there would be a market, and that is all that matters: Sales and profit.

Wouldn't this simply be the "Ram Power Wagon" since Ram is a separate brand?

      Holy Crap, that is awesome!!!

I am guessing the hottest accessory for this truck, a confederate flag and a gun rack.

My raised chevy avalanche will do the job better than both trucks
        • 4 Years Ago
        Oh, I get it. It's a joke.
Yea i wanted to throw something

But anyways I dont drive trucks anymore

except for my Tj if that counts as a truck

But I always wanted to get a chevy avalanche and put a 6 inch lift on it

but then I got a TJ and put a 4 inch lift

Im a BMW guy so this truck news doesnt seem to crazy

Oh god this represents everything I hate about trucks. If I was to see one of these on the highway driving aggressively, tailgating someone it would take everything in me not to explode with anger.

I'll take a Raptor any day. This is just an off road poser...
Awesome, but not a Raptor competitor. Like the short box, but would look much better as a slab-side instead of this mid-90's GM flairside box.

So obviously this is just a concept - but what are we looking at here? Mopar heavy duty front and rear axles, suspension/lift kits, wheels, rear bumper, spare tire carrier etc. Basically they're showing off toys you can buy from the catalog. The Power Wagon is a work-site wonder that can go pretty much anywhere. It doesn't need to be blasting through the desert....

Although it would be cool :)
