Video: PSA - Do not try to drive your C4 Corvette like a Duke Boy
Corvettes don't float – Click above to watch video after the jump
If there are two indisputable truths in life, they are that a man is not a camel and a Corvette is not a boat. The gentleman above needs to retrieve the C4 Corvette in the shed behind him. The problem is the pool of water between the Corvette and solid ground. His solution is as comical as it is regrettable... and expensive. It did, however, teach us a new way to use the word "yahoo" as a verb. Follow the jump for the fun.

Solution - cut Corvette-sized hole in the barn where there isn't any water...

nah ah. he should have caulked the seams before attempting to ford the river. then he could have floated to safety instead of drowning the wagon.

LOL
Well a Corvette is a GM product so he could have called the Government to float the car across the rough waters ;)

Since he lived on a farm and had a tractor. He should have made a dirt bridge to the barn an then laid the boards on top of it to keep the car clean.

OH COME ON... THAT WAS FUNNY - I love American Cars! It was just a good joke! I think... lol

wow.
No cinder blocks and 2x8s or anything around, to build a bridge?
Otherwise wait for the water to recede... and don't build your shed to open directly to a low land trough, if you need to get in and out of it in the spring.
That ground is probably VERY soft, even if it isn't under standing water.

I'm guessing he locked up the engine after sucking up water through the air intake?

Or very possibly getting the "Opti-spark" wet. (C4 Corvette's electronic distributor is at the front of the engine, down by the crankshaft). It can be easily damaged by simply washing an engine, too.

Hydro-lock is expensive. I could think of better ways to spend money on a new engine than that. What a waste.

why not just leave the car there for a few more weeks until it dries up...

I agree. Why is it that all Corvette owners are stupid.
