Victor Muller, CEO of Spyker Cars, has made it clear that Saab, which was just recently acquired by Muller's exclusive automaker, will introduce a new small car to go up against the Mini and the newly shown-off Audi A1. What's more, the new small Saab will hearken back to such classically styled Swedish iron as the classic 1949 92.
It's been rumored that the next Saab will be known as the 9-1 and will be based atop the underpinnings of the Opel Astra hatchback. Unlike past GM-based (or Subaru-based, depending) Saabs, though, Muller is reportedly telling his designers that every car wearing the Born-from-Jets badge must be instantly recognizable as a Saab.

That's enough information for a few talented artists to sketch out their own ideas of what a mini Saab might look like, and just such an illustration comes courtesy of Autobild. We have no clue how accurate it may be, but feel free to check it in full by clicking here. So, what do you think?

For anyone who doesn't know, Autobild can be the National Enquirer of the concept car world.

The new Saab will look better than this!

Looks like a Mini. Not a Saab look if you ask me.
Thank goodness it's just speculation. Most of the time they are completely innacurate with the final product.

This picture was a joke by Autobild because the car is going to be a "Mini-fighter." It's clearly a Mini with Saabish stuff added in photoshop. The car also isn't going to be retro like the Mini it's going to be very modern with a tear drop shape that hints at the past. The new 9-5 doesn't excite me that much but this is a car Saab must build reignite the brand.

      What?

So they Photoshopped a Mini Cooper into a Saab?

The rearview's nice, but that's a godawful front-end (being clearly a Saabastardized Mini's). I was personally think of something more along the lines of the 9-x concept.

Looks like a Mini in the front and a Volvo C30 in the back. Sounds fun. Are we going to see it here in the states?

Back looks great! Way better than the Volvo attempt -
the front is close to correct except the mini like headlights would never be there - the swedish blue ice slits would instead - real low profile.
good try though, close to what they should start with I'd say
