Gran Turismo 5 NASCAR promo – Click above to watch the video after the jump

In a word, impressive. Sure, we can go on for paragraphs about how disappointed we are that Polyphony Digital and Sony still haven't released Gran Turismo 5 (there is no firm launch date) or bore you with how little we care for NASCAR, but instead we'll focus on the fact that the post-jump video looks truly incredible.

Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi went to Texas to see his first in-person NASCAR race, and the gaming legend appears to be very impressed with the sheer scope of the Official Sport of the South. Judging from the game footage Sony attached to the video, we're pretty impressed with the virtual version of the U.S. racing series as well. The b-roll-style footage looks very impressive, but most non in-game footage does.

The GT5 promo video also shows a few glimpses of what the race will look from behind the wheel as well. We're thinking once (if) we finally have GT5 in our hands, we'll have a series of virtual left-hand turns in our future. Right after we experience the Formula One, Rally and every other type of racing first. Hit the jump to see for yourself.

Content I DO NOT WANT in GT5 that is undoubtedly helping extend the delays. It would be fun over the PSN, however, just get the gawdforsaken game out the freaking door, guys!!!

Ok just in the picture Autoblog posted at the top, i see three Dupont 24 cars. Seriously Sony can't afford licenses for a full field?

Since we are all obligated to crack a joke on the timeliness of GT5: Jeff Gordon might retire before this game comes out.
Maybe that's a shot of multiplayer where people get to pick their own livery before the race?
Brett Favre might retire before this game comes out.

        I had to do it...

Considering the fact that they postponed introduction of GT5 few times now, 2011 NASCAR season will start by the time we start playing 2009 season in GT5.

This will only be acceptable if Cole Trickle's City Chevrolet stock car is in the game.

      Dear Sony,

I also don't care about drag racing, rallying, baja, off-road, moto-x, F1, etc. If I wanted to play one of those racing style games, I'd buy one of those racing style games. I like Gran Turismo because they feature GT cars and realistic racing. STOP TRYING TO CRAM EVERYTHING INTO THIS ONE GAME!! This is getting utterly and completely ridiculous with the amount of junk shoved in it that (I'd assume) is the reason that this is getting pushed back further and further. Focus on what you're good at, and if you want to make a NASCAR racing game, put that out as an additional game.

this is new footage but the addition of nascar in this game was in from the beginning. the only reason it isn't out yet is because of real time damage. With games like God of War 3 coming out now, there is no reason to put out another game that's of super huge potential at the same time. It will ruin sales of either game if they came out at the same time. The damage engine will be more realistic and the physics will be as well. Funny thing is in Forza, you have pre-rendered damage, lousy physics that feel the same as Forza 2, also has Nascrap too. But make fun of GT5, at least it'll include nascar tracks unlike flopza. And unlike flopza Gran Turismo is a guaranteed hit. The GT franchise has sold around 50 million games so far. It's expected that GT5 will add at least 5-10 million more easily. God of War 3 will use 45GB of the Blu Ray disc, that's extreme cotent, like that game GT5 will probably be the same- 1000 cars, over 30 tracks, the best looking graphics, redone physics...? It's worth the wait, and anyone saying they won't buy it shouldn't be posting here because by posting we know you're going to reserve a copy as soon as you can

I'm sure if they would have left this out and just release the game a lot more people would be happy than the ones that are "waiting" to play on nascar mode. Im sure it could have been some kind of add on after the game was released that way it would have been a win win situation for them

i'm very excited for 2013, its going to be a big year for gaming.

jokes aside, the game looks good, i can't wait to play it. Until then we have got lots of great racing games to pick from to keep us occupied. I'm tempted more then ever to buy an xbox and forza. So, why can't they give us some more stuff for gt5p to keep us occupied if its going to be 8 more months?

I'd love NASCAR in the game... but it's the COT cars. Even the NASCAR drivers hate to drive them.

How about some old 70/80's stockers? When STOCK meant something!
      I'm sad. NASCAR.... blah.
I am admittedly a Forza honk, but I played GT first, and loved it.

I played, quit, started over and quit, and played GT3 again. It was a phenomenal game.
What I don't understand about this NASCAR bit is:

How many GT legacy players actually WANT NASCAR in their proper "racing simulator"?

I sure as hell don't. I also don't want to hear about "we're working to include car x, y, z onto the disk." JUST FREAKING RELEASE THE GAME.

If you don't want to charge people for extra cars, then don't! But it's disrespectful to your hopefully loyal fans to keep delaying the game by adding more cars.

Make downloadable content a priority after selling the game. People want the game more than they want new cars, even as bad ass as the Honda HSV.

        QFT Thank you.

      WOW, Nascar...

Looks like you can still ride the wall and bump other cars out of the way easily!!!
