Geneva 2010: Peugeot announces 3008 Hybrid4 plug-in for 2012
Hybrid4 is a through the road hybrid system with the front wheels driven by a conventional diesel engine and transmission and the rears by an electric motor. There is no power split system and no mechanical connection front to rear. The plug-in version will use a higher-capacity battery and Peugeot is aiming for fuel consumption of under 2 liters per 100 kilometers (117.6 miles per gallon, U.S.) and less than 50 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

The Product offensive Through its very wide range of cars that combine both driving pleasure and environmental performance, Peugeot, the leading French manufacturer in terms of registrations in 2009, lays claim to its vocation as an authentic general-interest manufacturer and its leadership on its traditional territories. With the 5 by Peugeot concept car receiving its world première in Geneva, Peugeot reinterprets its historic presence in the world of large touring cars by unveiling its ambitions in the market of luxury saloons, where profound changes are seeing an amalgamation of the M2 (large saloons) and H (top of the range) segments.
With its dimensions (length: 4.86 m), its balanced proportions, its personality and the elegance and dynamism of its style, 5 by Peugeot satisfies the growing demand for quality, performance and modernity expressed by the customers of large, high-status saloons.
Offering the promise of new sensations in accord with environmental demands, the 5 by Peugeot concept car incorporates Peugeot HYbrid4 diesel hybrid technology: 147 kW (200 bhp), four wheel drive, emissions of 99 g/km CO2 and a fuel consumption of 3.8 litres/100 km (or zero in electric mode).
The Product offensive also involves the conquest of new territories. In 2009 the Marque launched the 3008 crossover, winning plaudits in the media to accompany its commercial success, and later the 5008 compact MPV into the high specification, "high-volume" compact car market segment. In the spring of 2010 the RCZ coupé, a dream embodied in a pure concentrate of emotions, will be Peugeot's first limited edition model, while at the end of the year the iOn will be the first 100 % electric car launched in Europe.
Peugeot also intends to push back the frontiers of motoring with a vehicle that will embody the true essence of the BB1. . and opens the way to new markets The new 408, presented to the European press in Geneva, will be launched on 8 April in China and will eventually be introduced onto other international markets.
A traditional three-box saloon with a balanced and elegant style, designed by Peugeot teams in Europe and in China, the Dong Feng Peugeot 408 marks a decisive step in the Marque's offensive on the world's leading car market: with a target of 100,000 units in one full year, the 408 will allow Peugeot to continue to grow in China, where already in 2009 a record 112,000 sales was achieved.
In this double product offensive, on its core market and on new territories, Peugeot will be launching 14 new models worldwide between 2010 and 2012.
Environmental leadership Rising to the environmental challenge: Peugeot's ongoing ambition. Over a ten year period, the Marque – the pioneer in Particulate Emissions Filter (FAP) technology – has fitted this equipment on nearly 2.3 million of its HDi vehicles. Already, 50 % of Peugeot vehicles sold in Europe - like the four "low emission" vehicles on show in Geneva - produce emissions of less than 130 g/km CO2.
To raise public awareness of what is at stake in terms of the environment, Peugeot is launching the "Peugeot Eco Cup", Europe's first eco-driving challenge: 72 teams from 18 European countries will drive four HDi models (207, 308, 3008, 5008), all identical, on a 100 kilometre "economy run" from Paris to Geneva following a controlled route.
On 2 March, on the Peugeot stand in Geneva, the four winning teams will receive the keys of the four cars entered in the competition. In its drive for environmental excellence Peugeot continues to improve the efficiency of its naturally-aspirated engines by developing a new, small 3-cylinder petrol engine and preparing an offer which, tomorrow, will also be electric, with the iOn , which from the end of this year will mark Peugeot's return to the 100% electric vehicle market where it has historic leadership credentials. The iOn allows four people to be transported in a compact, lively and easy to handle car offering a maximum speed of 130 kph and, thanks to its lithium-ion batteries, a range of 130 km. iOn is another way of looking at the car.
More than 2000 reservations have been recorded to date. Peugeot has already begun to market the iOn: two agreements based on letters of intent (L.O.I.) concerning delivery of the iOn have been signed with Veolia and Greenwheels, two companies operating in Europe. A partnership has also been concluded to join the EVA (Electric Vehicles for Advanced Cities) project.

SR1, the style manifesto
Peugeot is renewing its styling. The SR1 concept is its embodiment. The SR1 is the strongest, purest and most extreme expression of the Peugeot style of tomorrow. Elegance, dynamism, visual appeal, controlled power: the aesthetic codes of this "dream car", which reinterprets the theme of the large roadster, prefigure the main trends of the Marque's future models. Everything about the SR1, including its generous, sculpted bonnet, its streamlined sides and its very low centre of gravity, suggests a vehicle hewn from a solid block of material, protective and sculptural.
Authentic and technological, expressive and understated: the SR1 makes great play of contrasts, not least in its "2+1" interior where patinated leather and veined wood co-exist with "high tech" nickel and satin-finished chrome, and analogue and digital instrumentation.
With its HYbrid4 petrol hybrid power train, the SR1 concept car offers mechanical characteristics on a par with its visual appeal: 230 kW (313 bhp), 119g/km CO2 (and zero in electric mode), 4-wheel drive and steering. The Peugeot SR1: a synthesis of emotion, strong design and efficiency.
New mobility: Peugeot one step ahead Peugeot is the only manufacturer to offer an integral mobility package consisting of cars, light commercial vehicles, scooters, bicycles, and a wide range of services.
Expectations in terms of mobility are changing: Peugeot is taking the high road and launching Mu by Peugeot, an original and innovative offer of à la carte mobility services. Mu by Peugeot allows everyone, whether or not they are Peugeot customers or vehicle owners, to access a wide range of mobility services – car or light commercial vehicles, scooter, bicycle, accessories - via a pre-paid card that can be topped up online.
Following successful trials in France, Mu by Peugeot will be deployed in several European capitals (Paris, Berlin, Brussels, London, Madrid, Rome.) , starting in the first half of 2010.
The BB1 is a new way of imagining urban transportation of tomorrow: zero emissions thanks to its lithium-ion batteries, 2.5 metres long and four seats. The BB1 overturns the codes of interior and exterior architecture, offering new panoramic vision and the very best in terms of connectivity.
Peugeot has begun the development of a vehicle that will embody the essence of the BB1.
The name Peugeot is also synonymous with Peugeot Scooters and one of the most comprehensive ranges on the market, from 50 to 500 cm3. The HYbrid3 Evolution concept, a petrol hybrid scooter with three wheel drive – naturally-aspirated engine at the rear, two electric motors housed in the front wheels – also in its way prefigures responsible, safe and efficient mobility.
Peugeot is returning in strength to the world of the bicycle in an exclusive global partnership with Cycleurope, Europe's leading cycle manufacturer.
With its Peugeot Connect SOS services, Peugeot is expanding its offer of peace-of-mind mobility. The emergency call, where the Marque leads the way in Europe, was launched in 2003 on Peugeot vehicles equipped with compatible data-processing systems: operated either manually or automatically – in the event of safety mechanisms being activated – it triggers a call to appropriate emergency services; the emergency call has already come to the assistance of nearly 3,500 people.
Peugeot Connect SOS extends this service thanks to a localised communication unit which will be available shortly on the 207 and 308, and later as standard on all RCZs in the course of 2010. This expansion will gradually include other models in the range.
