2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe – Click above for high-res image gallery

Thinking about taking home a new Cadillac CTS Coupe and ready to start mixin' 'n' matchin'? Cadillac has put the coupe's order guides online, which means it's time to start playing with packages. You might be in for a little disappointment, though, when you discover that things like that the pane of glass isn't a proper sunroof – it only tilts – kind of like the unit on Audi's A5. Nor can you have the new Evolution Green Metallic exterior with the Ebony interior and Saffron seat inserts. But that's probably a good thing...

Otherwise, there aren't too many surprises, just details to know, like which package you'll need in order to get the rearview camera on the nav screen and not on the mirror. Or you could just get the CTS-V Coupe and make sure you drive home with everything standard.

I'm curious to see if the recent dip in CTS sales is as a result of folks waiting on the Coupe.

I wouldn't doubt it. Do you know how many people have been waiting for a replacement for the Eldorado? Well, here it is... I just got back from the Chicago Auto Show but I got there too late - it was already gone. So many people are complaining about the rear end.. I'm really curious to see just how high it is.. It looks good in pictures but maybe not so much in person. I'll see soon, I suppose...

That is an ugly car. It's like some eighth grader designed it with a ruler.

Ugly car. Would NEVER try to call this an Eldorado. Sorry Sal. IMO, the XLR is the latest iteration of the Eldorado.

This CTS Coupe / Audi A5 trend of non-opening sun roofs is utterly maddening. Why would they make sure a bizarre choice? If I'm buying a high end sports coupe I'm buying a toy, a leisure item that I want to relax and enjoy. Letting the sun and air in when buzzing down the highway is a critical aspect, why the hell would I want to spend $50K on a car that's too half-assed to have an actual sun roof?

Where would the sunroof go if it were able to roll back? It wont fit in the space between it and the rear window. Also, I believe the roof on the car was lowered for the coupe so the car can't afford to lose any more headroom.

Having had a tilting and sliding moonroof on my last two cars, I found that I used the tilt function about 80% of the time, cracked it open less than a quarter of the way the rest of the time. So not having a sliding moonroof is not a real issue for me, since I can tilt it to let some air out and open the shade to let the sun in.

As far as why the CTS and A5/S5 coupe do not have a sliding moonroof, I think it comes down to not having enough room in the roof section to slide the moonroof all the way open and would eat up valuable headroom space. How about one that slides open on top of the roof? To me, that looks tacky for a large panel (even more so for the segmented moonroofs, like the one used in the G6).

Granted, not everyone likes a tilting-only moonroof.

Too much strangely proportioned hatchback, too little coupe in this design. Sunroofs are also useless. I prefer what BMW does with the M3, allowing people to trade in the roof with sunroof for a carbon fibre roof at no cost.
