2010 ALMS Corvette C6.R – Click above for high-res image gallery

This year's Corvette racer, the C6.R headed to the GT class in ALMS and at Le Mans, has had a slow reveal. First its heart was unleashed, the production-derived 5.5-liter V8, then its livery stopped to pose. Now the car has been caught doing what it hopes to do best this year, heating up the tarmac at Sebring International Raceway.

There will be two teams competing: Johnny O'Connell, Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia in the No. 3 Compuware Corvette 3; Oliver Gavin, Olivier Beretta, and Emmanuel Collard in the No. 4. Their first race will be on March 20, the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, and the competition will be a gunslinger's hall of fame: Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Spyker, Jaguar. Gentlemen, on your marks...

      @ Dr Greenthumb.

The rules stipulate that the production car must have DI for the purpose built race version to utilize it.

And the production line Government Motors Corvette DOESN'T, so your answer is NO.

It definitely does have direct injection .....so will the production 5.5 that is homologated by GM for this year. So the answer is a big YES !! You will just have to wait for later in the year to get it for your car. Unless of course you are on the entry list for LeMans ...

Car is still a monster without it.

Interesting to see the fuel filler ports moved. After all that work relocating the valves after the Dale Jr. crash too.

Can't wait to see them out there.

the heat extractor on the hood is playing tricks on my eyes-- makes it look like a badly photoshopped power bulge.

hey what do you guys think that fan is cooling in the rear ? diff and/or trans cooler maybe ?
Transmission cooler would be my guess. The transmission cooler in my Mazda RX-7 GT-2 car is mounted in the rear also.

Pratt & Miller builds the best race cars in the world!!!! You should see the lobby of the shop. The room full of trophy's prove my point.

Get rid of the frat boy tattoo on the sides, replace it with Jake, and uh, yeah, I'd like it.

what about power and weight of the thing ?
Well, we know that the GT2 car has more mechanical grip than the GT1 car, and now with the aluminum frame. it's going to be even lighter. Also, the GT2 car from last season had to use hand-me down tires from the GT1 car, this year it gets it own custom made tires. If it does indeed have DI, this car will be a monster.

The unfinished GT2 package was a demon last season, Porsche, Ferrari & BMW beware.

Should be another epic year in ALMS GT-2! We all need more racing like the GT-2 finish to the season at Laguna Seca last year. Looking at pic 10, the #4 Corvette is pulling some serious G's in the turn, lifting his right front off the tarmac. Me likey!

personally I liked the previous livery more

All racing corvettes are like ferraries of the road. They are an untouchable force of all greatness.. .(i dont know if that makes sense but you get the point..lol)

But i can really do without the spikes on the sides, on a real racing car like, they should only have advertisements, i think advertisements look better than throwing spikes on the side.. just my thought...

Q: Now that the displacement has been decreased, are they going to be allowed to have DI on this motor?

Channeling my inner Christopher Walken: Needs more Jake!
