BMW's "Joy is Futureproof" commercial – Click above to watch the video after the jump

BMW has done a lot of work over the past year to bring its core philosophy of Efficient Dynamics to nearly every vehicle in its lineup. We've seen new hybrid production vehicles like the ActiveHybrid X6 and 7, as well as diesel-powered offerings like the 335d and X5 xDrive35d.

But for BMW, Efficient Dynamics doesn't just represent alternative fuels. The automaker has implemented technologies like regenerative braking on gas-powered models, as well as a larger focus on using lightweight materials to construct the vehicles in its lineup.

BMW's latest ad spot shows how these forward-thinking improvements influence its full range of products, and ties it all into the original Vision EfficientDynamics concept car from last year's Frankfurt Motor Show. (We really like seeing that thing in action.) Hit the jump to watch the video.

BMW won an award for being the greenest automaker, when u consider the entire production of the car and shipping to customer.

BMW is doing a good job improving efficiency while keeping cars fun to drive. For example the efficient dynamics on 5er has brake regen other neat features. And BMW will soon have KERS.

I seriously don't get how this car is efficient... I understand that BMW's production process is nice and all but, this car, with all of these random floating surfaces, just seems like it would create a crazy amount of drag. It's like putting wings all over a car and saying it helps efficiency.

I think this car looks horrendous.

Lightweight = track stars. Bring it. Although they've been saying this awhile now...

Thank you! Finally someone with some sense!

I can see we are going to get along pretty well.... haha unless you are on Matt's bandwagon!?

      Very nice, as always.

joy WAS futureproof. go drive an e30 m3. joy isn't futureproof anymore.
Wise words. The e30 M3 was the car that got me hooked on M3s, the e92 however has driven me towards a P-car. Not faulting either car but the "joy" just isn't there.

joy has been replaced by boring, safe and fat

I saw this one on TV today, its okay.

They transposed the words. It was supposed to be "BMW is Joyproof."

All this tech and the vehicle still drives along the ground like the cheapest one on the road. Instead of concentrating on the next touchscreen or hybrid, why don't automakers start developing a car that can actually fly to compete with the Volt?

Ask Mommy & Daddy to explain it to you after you finish your juice box.

Okay? Now go color or something...
Sure, do you have a few trillion dollars to throw at developing the tech for flying cars? You kno those anti-gravity engines floating traffic signals are not cheap!
They are advertising how fuel efficient their cars are. How fuel efficient do you REALLY think flying is, there is a little something called GRAVITY for starters...

Flying cars wouldn't cost trillions of dollars to develop technology considering we already have a great building block called a Plane! I wanna be like the Jetsons but I would rather have a low altitude car like say 18-24"s off the ground. Then you wouldn't have to work out the problem with floating traffic signals, but you could definitely increase altitude to AVOID the cell phone talker driving in front of you that can't multi-task like TALKING while DRIVING! They should develop cell phone jammers and make it mandatory installation on all vehicles while the vehicle gear shift is out of "Park" or senses motion. Now that would be innovative and SMART!
On another SMART note, support America, buy and drive American badged vehicles with a 1 starting in the V.I.N. The future of our economy, jobs, and children depend on it!
