Porschephiles and automotive enthusiasts the world over recognize the name Gemballa. The German tuning house has been responsible for some of the most extreme creations on four wheels and has been a well-respected brand for decades. Now reports indicate that Uwe Gemballa, founder and head of the namesake aftermarket tuner, has gone missing.

According to the reports, the 51-year-old Gemballa was on a trip to South Africa when he went missing. The suspected site of his disappearance is Johannesburg, long known as one of the most dangerous cities in the world due to the rampant violent crime rate in its downtown core. Investigators in Germany are reportedly in contact with law enforcement authorities in South Africa in an effort to recover Uwe, and for our part, we hope his safe return comes as quickly as his record-breaking supercars.

South Africa is a crime ridden hellhole. Why would anyone go there?

Yep, Johannesturd is a great destination, if you want to get murdered for the change jingling around in your pockets.

And to think RSA used to be a civilized country.

Before the western world threw them to the wolves.

Hahahaha I was hoping one of these depraved suburbanites would show up. Why go anywhere ever at all? Sunnyville Idaho has all the amenities one could ever ask for.

Best of luck to him. Except for the cayannes, Gemballa have a fine taste for tunning porsches. I sincerely hope he´s fine and would hate to see another big car personality gone.

Hope dude finds his way home. If not, I won't miss his overdone cars.

      Oh dear...

I hope he turns up safe and sound, I really do.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but chances are if he's missing in South Africa, the only way you'll find him is in pieces.

Hopefully, who ever kidnapped him was aware of his status and value, I'm sure his friends, loved-ones, and his company would be willing to pay a ransom if that is what it takes to bring him home alive. Unfortunately, the garden variety muggers in joburg often stab first and ask questions later. I certainly hope he doesn't become another South African statistic.

I have known Uwe for 26 years. He is one of the creative geniuses of the auto industry and a good guy who always has time for others, so I hope he returns safely. By the way, he is 54, not 51.

Maybe he's chillin' in District 9?

I really hope the man comes home safe, though it seems the chances are dim. My sister's friend is living in Pretoria, not far from Jo'burg, and I recall her family talking about how much it sucks.

Which is really fantastic because I'm on my way to South Africa this week. Hopefully Cape Town isn't as bad.

I hope he is well, South Africa have become a dangerous place with criminals often following tourist to their destination from the airport to rob them.
Please be careful of the Police and Traffic Police too, apart from criminals wearing Police uniforms there is several rogue elements in the forces as well, see the following link for an exposé of the Police that was aired on Carte Blanche:

SOUTH AFRICA IS A VERY DANGEROUS PLACE
HAVE A LOOK AT THE LOLLY JACKSON ASSASINATION, GEMBELLA WAS IN SA TO DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE (LOLLY AND HIS CRONIES) AND DISAPPEARED. IF YOU DISAPPEAR IN SA AND DIDNT INTEND TO DISAPPEAR YOU ARE MORE THAN LIKELY DEAD. SA IS ROTTEN TO THE CORE
