Big news comes by way of Adam Carolla's CarCast today as it now appears that Top Gear USA is back on track. Instead of appearing on NBC, though, the show will apparently move to The History Channel. Exciting news indeed, especially for Carolla, who is apparently the only one of the three original cast members who was informed of the decision – what that means for the other two hosts remains to be seen.

We don't have any details on when Top Gear USA will finally hit the airwaves, but we'll be keeping an ear to the ground and an itchy trigger finger on our DVRs as soon as we know anything more. Want to hear the news straight from the source? Click here to listen to Adam Carolla's CarCast.

We highly recommend that you enjoy the entire episode – after all, what could possibly be better than a road trip to obtain a freshly restored Lamborghini Miura? – but the Top Gear talk starts at 12:30 if that's all you car about. Beware of some NSFW language. Hat tip to Jason!

I agree with those who say that the show will never work here due to the need to be nice to sponsors etc. It will inevitably end up being another boring PC show.

they would have to do one thing.

Say no to advertising from car manufacturers, as avoiding conflicts of interest.

Then, when they build credibility for not pulling punches, unlike every other US automotive press outlet... they can say yes to other big sponsors that want the US male demographic audience.

But that would be like History Channel doing a natural history show that doesn't have a huge global warming segment at the end...

Or HGTV doing something other than real estate speculation shows.

Or MTV not touting the downfall of popular culture with things like Jersey Shore.

So, in other words... they could, but they won't, because integrity isn't as important to them as money is.

I can't say that I won't give it a try if it actually makes it onto TV but, I SERIOUSLY DOUBT that it will hold a candle to the original.

I'm not all that excited. I like Clarkson because he is a voice of common sense and of political incorrectness. You can get away with that in Britain, but in the U.S. we have all these morons and leftists who prance around like little queens shouting down everyone else.

Adam Carolla may not be Mao Tse Dung, but he is a product of the Hollywood Machine, a bunch of left wing bigots incapable of tolerating any view but their own, and the history channel is a joke itself.

I agree with zamafir, "kill it with fire is the best option." But apply that to Showbiz in the U.S. as it is in its entirety.

Why is this going to the History Channel? Shouldn't the History Channel air programs relating to history? At least that's how I remembered it years ago.
..they ran out of show idea's on how to cover WWII?
Doesn't have to be about WWII, I remembered thats all they ever showed on that channel.
History channel seens an odd fit. HISTORY != car reviews and road trip antics. Discovery maybe. TLC maybe. A&E maybe. History...? not really historic.
You do realize History is giving a travel-esque show to Larry the Cable Guy right? Or maybe that was just a bad dream.

I will only watch top gear uk as I love the threesome! I only wish they would broadcast here in america uncensored and with no commercials like in the uk. until then internet baby!
Here's a crazy idea, kill topgear america with fire, give us topgear on history hd when it airs. crazy i know.
        Absolutely not.

Unless Top Gear is going to air with the original music and no commercials I will never watch it on broadcast TV in the states. When it first airs I download it and when it becomes available on DVD I buy it from the BBC. Fraking exchange rates...

The whole reason for Top Gear America and the other countries I believe is to make money for Wilman/Clarkson that they wouldn't otherwise make. When the rights to Top Gear are resold to channels in the US, the BBC gets the money. When these other shows are made and sold, Wilman and Clarkson get the money.

It's all about who owns the production, so no matter how well the original Top Gear does, Wilman and Clarkson will have plenty of reason to try to make spinoffs for other countries.

      YAY,

I guess if we can't have the real Top Gear, we may as well have our own version, instead of episode from 5 seasons ago. I don't know any of these people, but I know that they'll never be able to replace the trio of Captain Slow, Hamster and JEZZA. I hope Top gear USA has the same cheap car challenges and outrageous reviews like the original.

Since Leno doesn't want to do Top Gear, Conan should step it up.
I've heard Adam talk about the pilot, and it sounded awesome. It's a road trip through the desert, with some antics such as removing the AC units and making them into a sweat box. No, it won't be the same as the original, but that's a good thing. Now we have two different types of car shows to watch instead of one. And if half the american version is crap, well thats what tivo is for.

I'm excited for it. I heard this yesterday on Carcast, which is a great show btw. Why not have Top Gear America, it's not like it's replacing the original Top Gear. Can never have too many car shows on TV. Carolla is definitely the right choice for a host, he's a real car nut, and I hope they still use Tanner.

Sigh. BBC really needs to start selling the episodes to us sooner.

As for top Gear USA. Can't see the point. I LOVE that TG takes shots at Germans and French and most importantly Americans. I don't want that taken away. And i like the 3 personalities. Just leave it be.
