Nissan GT-R vs RWD Scion drift cars – Click above to watch video

Motor Trend hosted a summit of monsters that could be called "Where the Wild Things Are," gathering a Nissan GT-R and two back-wheel-driven Scion TC drift cars.

The question asked of the GT-R could have come from Autocar magazine's Ken Sutcliffe: "Will it drift?" After running through some standard MT performance runs, the cars were let loose around El Toro airfield to find the answer. You can click through the jump to see the video and find out...

I don't see the point of this video. Why compare a drifting, purpose-built car to one that doesn't drift?

      Meh.

I don't know what, if anything, that video proved -but it was damn fun to watch. I don't have a high opinion of drifting as a sport, but no one can really deny that it isn't fun or fun to watch.

I know it's Monday, but doesn't mean anything is better than work.

IT, what can I say, hearing tires burn and engines cry is a far more entertaining expenditure of time than hearing someone cry about their inability to use the simplest of technologies, and then subsequently try to blame it on the organization.

Stupid video as motor trend it self...
Drfit cars are not stock, they are MODIFIED they just look like a scion...as DTM cars...as nascar cars...etc
AND the most important thing...the GTR driver its not very good because I have seen GTR drift in hand of The MASTER Tsuchiya

A pointless comparison and video. The GT-R is all about grip whereas the drift car are about avoiding grip. The GT-R looked like a camera car.

So the answer to "Will it drift?" is.........OOOOPS forgot to answer that! What was the point of all that?

I don't quite understand all the hate. I thought everyone that came to this blog was a gearhead of some sort? I mean your looking at 2 converted chassis' and techno-wunder car. They are all 3 100% pointless, but they are all 3 amazingly relevant to our loves. Seriously can't believe people don't like converted FWD's with a fire breathing Nascar motor under hood. Also go back and watch the video and listen to the last few lines, the purpose was summed up pretty well.

Yes, I would be happy to own a GTR for a daily driver for it's AWD and DSG.
But, drifters and the whole fast and furious crowd makes me want punch people.

Ricers have destroyed the automotive enthusiast scene.
FWD "performance" and RWD conversions ????
      Kill yourselves.

Stupid film. No point to it and they didn't even talk about the GT-R except for the lame intro. And stop trying to film it like Top Gear.

There's nothing wrong with dumb comparisons, we do it all the time. But if you're doing a dumb comparison it has to have some kind of interesting element, or humor or something.... with this, just re-stating the obvious and a sad attempt at a drift for the GTR. Motor Trend epic fail.
