I think the "hide" feature is unnecessary and a little ridiculous.
I assume most auto enthusiasts are like myself in that you follow what's going on across the ENTIRE auto industry. Sure, horespower and hot exotics are awesome. But you appreciate them even more in the context of the entire industry. This is one of the biggest auto stories of the past 10 years. There should be no reason to hide it just because it's not as fun to read as a MS3 review. All this Toyota stuff is gonna have a HUGE effect on the entire industry, so I think it's good to be informed.
Also, anyone get the sense that the Autoblog staff resents covering this story? Almost as if it's an annoyance? Again, the auto industry is sometimes more than fast cars and road tests. Since Autoblog "obsessively" covers the auto industry, it should be expected that you cover this store in its absolute entirety.
It would be even better if Autoblog did some original reporting and made contributions in terms of advancing this story in the media -- it certainly has the power to, since it's so connected with enthusiast sites (maybe something about stripped head bolts on the Toyota 2.4Ls? I dunno). At least that would be more fun than re-writing wire stories and stories from major newspapers, yeah?
So your giving people the option to ignore the biggest automotive industry news story of the year? Yeah, maybe if we ignore it, it will just go away (for Toyota's sake)!
Why weren't the domestic fans given this option when the GM and Chrysler bankruptcies where the big news last year? Why are the Toyota fans allowed to live in denial?
YAY! Someone else to give the Japanese companies a free ride on a TERRIBLE case of cheating, lying, and swindling. Am I the only person who is tired of Consumer Reports and other review agencies giving Japanese stellar ratings while our American vehicles are slammed time after time. And now that Toyota, the king of the Japanese imports has a BIG problem, people say they don't want to hear about it.

Now Autoblog readers who own/love Toyotas won't have to read about Toyota admitting a design fault in the brakes of a 2010 Prius can take up to a full second to engage, but Toyota can't decide if this design fault requires a recall. I bet DOT might have a different take on the matter.

Look at the complexity of this thing. This is a pedel for christ sake. Years ago we had a rod to the carb, a return spring, and a ruber pad. This is the perfect example of why simplicity will trump complexity every time. Yea,yea, times are different and require new technology. Great, so you kill people. Way to go...PROGRESS!

Maybe you can brake when your car suddenly lurches forward, in that case this is a work around, but hardly a solution to an underlying problem, right?
I dunno know.
