Hyundai Super Bowl commercials – Click above to watch both videos after the jump

The Super Bowl is still a few days away, but Hyundai has decided to reveal both commercials it will be airing during the game. One is called "10 Years/Favre" and features none other than Brett Favre, the aging-though-still-excellent quarterback who didn't make it to Miami this year after his Vikings lost to the Saints in the NFC Championship game. The commercial fast forwards 10 years where a 50-year-old Favre is accepting an MVP award and still pondering retirement. The point: 10 years from now your Hyundai will still be under warranty (at least the powertrain).

The second commercial, called "Paint," highlights the 14-step painting process for the new 2011 Sonata. It ends with the bold proclamation, "Better paint quality than Mercedes CLS550." Both commercials are voiced by actor Jeff Bridges, which must've cost the Korean automaker a pretty penny along with signing the NFL's most durable quarterback. Oh, and then there's the actual cost of buying a commercial spot during the Super Bowl, and Hyundai bought two. Who had a good 2009? Hyundai did. Follow the jump to view both commercials for yourself.

ill wait until the SuperBowl to watch the commercials....

Guy one- "Hey, the paint on my Hyundai is better than the paint on your CLS."
      Guy two- "...It's a CLS."
Guy one- "Well... my car cost thousands less and is a better built car."
      Guy two- "Mine's a CLS"
      Guy one- "Well..."
      Guy two- "Please stop talking."
Guy one- "Yeah well my Hyundai is out there in the driveway, want to go sit in it, then we can sit in your CLS?"
Guy two- "well....well I mean....I'll be right back, I need to call the dealer and see when my car will be out of the shop....then we can compare! Ha!"

I'm sure I covered the fact that Hyundais are built better, and actually, Mercedes-Benz has dramaticly improved it's cars after Chrysler, but... just for the sake of keeping this going...

(2 girls talking about guys 1 and 2)

Girl one- "Did you hear Guy one bought a new Sonata? It sure does look good, and is very well built!"
Girl two- "Yes, that nice, but Guy two is driving a Mercedes now."
Girl one- "It's not built as well"
        Girl two- "It's a Mercedes"
        Girl one- "You're right"

One question, will John Madden still be kissin' Favre's ass in ten years?
Saddly, I don't seeing Madden living that long.

Funny commercial, great football player in Bret Farve. He took a pounding and still kept coming back in Saints/Vikings game and I don't care for either team. Hell of a game. For those that don't remember George Blanda who last played with the Raiders, retired at 48 years old, played for 26 seasons. Maybe that commercial might come true about Farve. You don't know. I am ready for the Superbowl, hope it is as exciting as Saints/Vikings game. like to see it won with a super play at last of game.

If only more Super Bowl commercials were to the point like this one and didn't look like movie trailers.

Am I the only guy that thinks Brett Favre is taking HGH/Steroids? You know who else got better in their 40's? Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens

dude.....who lets you speak??? Brett Favre has been consistent all throughout his career with the exception of last season (New team with a new playcalling system and less talent) you know it was Abraham Lincoln who said, "It is better to be thought of a moron than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"

Btw, ford is better than chevy.

You are right! You are the only guy that thinks that........
      Man that guy looks old.
Continued to be amazed at how poorly some guys age.
Good thing WE have Peyton Manning.
I'm pretty sure they artificially aged him for the spot. Just saying.

I bought a 2008 sonata(perfect so far) and I happen to attend a church with many Korean-Americans who for the most part drive Japanese cars. When the issue of cars come up every once in a while, people inevitably poke fun at the fact that the only guy that drives a Korean car is the non-korean guy. We all laugh it off, and even my own wife pokes fun at me for buying a hyundai.

Now it is 2010, and my wife is in the market for a new car to replace her aging 1999 Camry. She is actually strongly considering a 2011 sonata/tucson because of the value/reliability/functionality hyundai brings to the table. And knowing how much she has poked fun of my purchase of a hyundai, she transparently tries reduce her own cognitive dissonance and tries to find a reason to buy a toyota camry, but fails(especially with the recent safety recall).

I try not to take my decision to buy a hyundai too seriously because after all, it is just a car and it gets me from point A to point B. However, it is sort of exciting to buy a product that is undervalued by the rest of the market. I imagine that this must be what Warren Buffett feels like on a daily basis.

Good spots. Favre's gotten a fair amount of mileage out of the on-again, off-again retirement thing...and somehow, it's still funny. The other ad is certainly strait-laced, but makes its point without any unnecessary fanfare.
Yeah, I think I've seen two other brands use that gag with Favre. But it still works!

That said, the guy needs to go buy himself a white belt, hike up his pants and go fishing.

I think he'll be back next season.

I think Hyundai missed the mark with the announcer voice... Jeff Bridges isn't one of the Forbes 10 most trusted celebs in America. I knew something about these commercials didn't sit right.
