Click above to watch the video after the jump

When Cadillac unveiled the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe at the Detroit Auto Show, we were so interested taking in the 556 horsepower Caddy to pay much attention to the introductory video. That was a mistake. The creative types at the the Wreath and Crest cut together an epic spot of nature's might that would have made Maurice White proud.

After the jump you'll find one of the cooler press conference videos we've seen on stage. Hurricanes, atom bombs, lightning bolts and the sun come together to show off the all-powerful Caddy. And if you're not into nature, the CTS-V Coupe hooks you up with power slides and slo-mo athleticism. There was no hiding the fact that the CTS-V isn't exactly in line with some of the greener wares at the show, so Cadillac had no choice but to embrace its baddest coupe's scorched earth goodness. Mother Nature might need to change her pantsuit.

While I agree the video has a Top Gear-ish feel, it's FAR from their quality overall. My take on it is drawing a comparison between the POWER of nature, and the POWER of the V-series cars. Unfortunately, the actual footage of the car does little to reinforce the POWER theme. Pretty wimpy actually.

Forgot to mention that IMO, the 'V' version of the sport wagon is the best looking as far as carrying off the A&S design theme. Looks nice from several angles IMO.

Seriously? This reminds me of the episode of Top Gear when they try to produce commercial for VW. This is exactly the kind of crap Jeremy Clarkson would come up with. In their own words, "Rubbish".

Look at that shoddy build quality! The "V" badge fell off!!!

      /Couldn't resist! Ha!

        A half-star??? Really, people? C'mon it's a joke!

(Sorry Bro...that's all I can do. And no, I won't vote it up :D)

        Was that a joke? or...

If you're going to do a video of burnouts and donuts, at least have some tire smoke. That just looks like someone trying to drive off with cold tires and a bunch of nature films cut together. And why show nukes and hurricaines with a car?

Man, I hate that music. It goes from crappy techno to Laaaa La la...
        REALLY?!!

I thought it was done by accident! OMG! This puts a whole new perspective on things! I'd better watch it again!

        *watches video again*

meh....the music is still crap. In fact it's worse now that I know they did it on purpose.
Notice... it corresponds with camera cuts from the tire spinning exterior, to the serene and comfortable interior.

I think they did that on purpose...

That was quite a stunning video!

Indeed. If everybody else is going to zig, then their approach is an effective zag.

Good Lord! I just inadvertantly summoned the ghosts of Cadillac's marketing past. I guess as long as they don't try to sell the CTS-V with an animated duck mascot, they'll be alright.

      Nice ad, nice car.

Most importantly it's not a Euro- or Oriental-styled knockoff, but an original looker and thus definitely a Cadillac, rather than a me-too.

      IWOOT.

Anyone know what Cadillac is not using front face from 2010 cts? I mean i love the styling of the cts-v, but the front still looks like it was from 2003 or 2004. The new cts's front face looks amazing and with this for the cts-v it would make it that much better.

Cadillac is starting to build cars I want. This is one of them!

Whats with the natural disasters? Is Cadillac implying that cars like these are causing global warming????

      I love global warming....
im glad that they dont try to be so politicly correct. first off there is no such thing as man made global warming and bob lutz is very open about saying it.

maybe there is a large company left that still has a backbone.
Yes, because as we all know, the sun is powered by Earth's "global warming," as are nuclear bombs and gas burnoff from an oil rig. Oh, and the fact that the driving footage is done on a SNOWY track really drives that point home!

        /sarcasm
