The stand-out vehicle for Ford recently has been the 2010 Fusion, and the hybrid version is helping Ford sell more hybrids than it ever has before. This year, through November, the Blue Oval has sold 31,000 hybrids, beating the previous high water mark set in 2007. This is great, but even in this down year, Ford sold over 1.4 million vehicles so far, making the hybrid portion decidedly tiny (about 2.1 percent). So far in 2009, Ford's hybrid sales were up 67 percent year-to-date, and Ford is quick to point out that overall industry hybrid sales dropped 11 percent so far this year (through November).
The Fusion model (hybrid and standard) broke into the Top Ten last month for all vehicle sales. It's not the best-selling sedan in the U.S., but Ford still has something to crow about.
