The 2010 Dodge Ram Power Wagon is one very capable full-size pickup truck. Its 383-horsepower HEMI V8 engine is but a small part of a rock-traversing equation that includes a solid front axle, electronic sway bar disconnect and a pair of limited-slip differentials. And while the Power Wagon has its way with the desert rocks, it can also tow over 10,000 pounds and tote nearly 2,000 more in the bed.

The Power Wagon appears to be the heavy duty, no-nonsense off-roader that Ram fans have come to expect since the variant first came online in 2005. Our friend Mike Levine over at Pickuptrucks.com took Dodge's freshly updated gravel king out for some fun at the Johnson Valley off-highway vehicle park in Southern California, and he brought cameras to properly document their adventure. Hit the jump to watch as the Power Wagon goes all Kama Sutra with a raft of contorted poses in the name of articulation and traction.

I know two different trucks for two different purposes but the SVT Raptor seems to be more thoroughly engineered and styled to differentiate it. HDs cost more but it's a good chunk of change more than the Ford too.

      Still an awesome truck.

Boy am I an idiot...that's the old one...still...uumm...It is specifically made for it's job.

        http://www.allpar.com/model/ram/power-wagon.html

"The Dodge Ram Power Wagon has class-exclusive electric locking front and rear differentials, a class-exclusive electronic disconnecting front sway bar and a custom-built Warn 12,000-lb. winch."

"boasts best-in-class wheel articulation with new suspension designs. The front suspension uses a solid front axle with coil spring design, while the rear features a new single stage leaf design and uses unique, softer spring settings. For serious off-roading capability, the Dodge Ram Power Wagon features new 4.56 gearing and Bilstein monotube high-pressure gas shock absorbers."

And is has a central tire inflation system.

No, it's not specifically engineered like the Raptor is, no, not at all.

That is cool! I like trucks and the Dodge Ram has to be one of my favorites, since it was in the movie Twister.

terrible, way to expensive. I'd rather have the Ford Raptor. I would never buy a dodge pickup, actually... I think I would ONLY buy a ford truck, no sense in buying from another brand.

What is this DODGE you guys are referring to?
I wish this was how more trucks and suvs were made. Full frame, solid axles front and rear, lockers, ect. Maybe if they were still built for what they were originally intended, a lot of people that don't really need them would stop buying them. Instead, many trucks and most suvs today are little more than big cars.

Can I have both a power wagon and a raptor? I'll use one to tow the other to my camp site =D

It should say "reintroduced". The Power Wagon "first came online" after WWII to sell heavy-duty military-spec trucks to the general public. Some of those original truck were pretty hard-core. A friend of mine had a mid '60's model and it was fun to ride in.

A Real truck- not a wanna be luxury car.

Badass. Kind of a sweet alternative if you want something a little more practical and less extreme than a Raptor.

gas engine in a big pickup for offroad = FAIL
        • 5 Years Ago
Huge gobs of torque and incredible articulation for crawling over rocks and such with your 2000 lb payload. That, my friend, is nothing but win!
Big heavy diesel's suck offroad. A 500 pound engine is much preferred over a 1200lb engine.

Well since you all hated me for loving on the Raptor, I do respect The Power Wagon and maybe it should've taken the award away from it's big brother.
I think as part of the HD family the Power Wagon shares the award. I think the gray truck in the accompanying pictures is a Powerwagon. For the record BTW, I want a Powerwagon AND a Raptor (I'll wait for the 6.2 liter though).

They've made it capable, now Dodge needs to make it attractive. What a homely truck.

Hey Japdot, Do us a favor and clean your glasses. The Ram is one of the best looking trucks out there. Thanks in advance for your attention to this matter.
