Roughly 85,000 2007 Dodge Nitros are being recalled for a windshield wiper issue. Use of the delay settings could lead to the wiper not working at all in any setting. The recall is expected to begin this month, and dealers will repair the wiper mechanism and software for free. For further information you can read the press release after the jump or contact the NHTSA.

All manufactures have recalls, this is not the first recall and will not be the last. I can say this problem is much lower on the severity list...you know unlike cars that accelerate uncontrollably. I have always liked the looks of the Nitro, the higher-end R/T model which doesn't have all the cladding.

Is it possible to issue recalls for faulty styling?
Maybe Dodge is using some of the same suppliers as Toyota.

        Well played.

I had completely forgotten that the Dodge Nitro even existed.

Who is buying them? I cannot remember the last time I saw one on the road.
I've seen two on the road, ever. Ugly sh!tboxes must be a Midwest thing.
The recall probably includes those vehicles still sitting on dealer lots...
Hey Pokey & rbd: Where do you guys live? People don't buy cheap, discounted midsize SUVs in your neighborhoods??

The Nitro is a helluva lot better looking than The Jeep CompA$$ & Patriot. The wiper issue can be fixed... can't fix UGLY found in the two Jeep models.

The mysteries of AB... my comment posted above Pokey instead of below. 2nd try:

Zamafir: Just wondering, did you hate the Dodge M80 concept as well? The Nitro just took this small pick-up concept & made in a SUV.

There are a helluva lot uglier small/ midsize SUVs currently on the road A way uglier $h!tbox is the Honda Element & I've seen those on BOTH coasts & the midwest

Recall all of them and keep them ugly things at the dealer please!
Really? Really? Fiat please turn this ship around!
The ship has too many holes in it and the motor doesn't work.

I'm stunned by this - that Dodge sold over 85,000 Nitros. I never see them on the road.
I agree. The most shocking thing about this is the news that they moved 85,000 2007 Nitros, period.

I bet Chrysler is longing for the days they saw those numbers.

I see them around. Definitely more than I see the Chrysler Aspen.

They need to recall every Nitro ever sold over failing buyer brain concerns.
Software problem??? This little trucklet has computer-controlled windshield wipers?? I wish you were just kiddin' me ... but tragically I know that isn't the case.

And people wonder why Ford Rangers still sell in decent numbers. Stove-bolt simple still sells.

I actually got caught in the rain in Chicago with one of these when the wipers quit - rental was from National. National asked me to drive it back in the rain because it was too expensive to send a wrecker...

The last time I rent a Chrysler product... Sadly, my company makes me use National still.

        yea stephan,

you could have gotten a Toyota with a floormat issue! opps i mean a computer problem or is it a pedal problem? or a rusted Toyota truck or lets see i can pick any manufacture that has way more recalls then dodge has. Typical blogger
