Pull Over: Broward County Sheriff gets a full-dress Challenger R/T

Dodge Challenger R/T Police Car - Click above for high-res image gallery
We like police cars. Seriously. Just not when they're filling our rearview mirrors, blue-and-reds ablaze. Then, our fanboy status diminishes markedly. In the meantime, however, we get pretty jazzed when a department does something a little different and cool. This week's example comes from the Broward County Sheriff's office, which appears to have added a fully-marked Dodge Challenger R/T to its fleet. Decked out in the BSO's familiar green-and-white livery, the muscular Mopar looks like it means business, ready to take down speeders and bust up meth labs with aplomb. We totally want to see it in person the next time we're down in South Florida -- just under our own, friendly terms. Thanks for the tip, Lee!

It would be a lot cooler if it was a Camaro

I actually like all good cars.
Mopar does not fall in that catergory.
Tony 8:38PM (11/20/2009)
Neither does GM

Pff, here we go again.
5 years ago that may have been true. But lately they been making some fantastic cars. Tahoe, Escalade, Malibu, Enclave, G8, Camaro, LaCrosse, Z06/ZR1, CTS-V, Regal and then the Chevy Volt.
Some damn good cars in there.

Sorry to say something hurt you. But Challenger has a classic look, unlike modern Camaro. I think Camaro is leaving musle class in next 2 or 3 generation. Maybe we can call Camaro a sport car, but American without a muscle???

Not not really, consumers aren't buying them. GM has a long ways to go before you can call them a good car company. They should start by paying back the taxpayers money, then get some more interesting and reliable cars to the market.
The Camaro is a fad, a novelty, nothing more. I don't see the Camaro being around past 2012.

So exterior design means everything? Is that what you're saying? Tell that to Honda they make awful looking cars.

Kids, stop feeding him.
He'll only get hungrier.

Guess what? Nobody is buying jack. We're going to be in this recession for a loonngg time. And yes, the cars mentioned above are awesome and lead in every class they're in. Dodge on the other hand... man has anyone been in a new Dodge lately? I don't even think they're trying.I mean cmon, John McCain knows theyre going to fail and everyone whatever John McCain says is 100% true.
Jesus F****NG Christ!!!

The challenger cop car is pretty cool, I like Barricade from Transformers, that was a bad ass cop car!!!!
Nick 11:14PM (11/20/2009)
Cool car, but who's gonna pay for the gas going in its 14mpg engine?
We will...
(And I'm not one of these righ-wing big govt-robs-our money kind of freak...but waste is waste and needs to be pointed out).

You have test driven a Volt when? How the heII do you know how good these cars are without driving all of them for a great length of time? The G8 is history! You also forgot the Saturn Sky/Solstice.
It is one thing to be an informed individual, but you have bought the cr@p hook line and sinker.

first off I've never liked the sky/solstice the Japanese own that segment (miata)
i have not been in the Volt but everyone knows its going to be a grand slam for GM. most prius are bought fully loaded so ~32k for a Volt after tax rebate wont be that bad. people will buy it, hell, kicks the living crap out of the prius in EXTERIOR DESIGN and will quadruple it in gas mileage. Read any review on any new GM car, GM is on a serious roll baby and leading segments left and right.

I though I was going to like the Camaro when I saw it, but I can't stand that ugly rear it has and how bulky it looks. in the other side the Challenger has a great design. I am a ford guy so to me I would like to see a GT500 as a chp.
Jrejre 5:02PM (11/21/2009)
Actually it gets about 16/23mpg. Almost as good as the V6 challenger/charger cop cars because the V8 has cylinder deactivation. Crown Vics aren't exactly fuel sippers either, and this at the very least probably burns cleaner.
SLAYER 8:11PM (11/20/2009)
Way overkill on the lights. Otherwise pretty cool looking cop car.

Agreed. Seems like the Charger started the trend of cop cars needing to light up the whole square mile around them. Also seems like every new cop car that comes out has more lights than other models before it. I understand that they want to be visible but it doesn't seem safe to blind everyone who's approaching stopped vehicles.
paul34 8:21PM (11/20/2009)
Yea. Those LED lightbars are awesome for visibility and just looking "better" in general, but man are they BRIGHT, especially when a bunch of different bars in the windows, grills, etc are all strobing at different frequencies! I'm glad I don't suffer from epilepsy...
Andy 8:31PM (11/20/2009)
Yeah, I still appreciate the fact that CHP doesn't go overboard like most overcompensating PDs with more lights than a Vegas stripclub.
