Cayman Sand: Nor'Ida claims its latest victim
It's bad enough when natural disasters lay waste to homes and coastline, but we're not sure we can bear the sight of this sort of car-carnage. Like this image, for example, of a Porsche Cayman buried in the sand. But we guess this was bound to happen to a car that shares its name with a Caribbean archipelago (it was actually named after a small species of crocodile).
The shot was taken by Asylum blogger Elizabeth Brady on Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, where the effects of "Nor'Ida" – a particularly strong Nor'Easter conspiring with the remnants of Tropical System Ida – were apparently felt particularly hard.
Natural disaster or no natural disaster, we're sure someone will find a way of blaming this on a low-flying pelican – or perhaps Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo.

That is a damn shame.
I hope it can be properly, and meticulously saved, and not just discarded, nor just quickly dried out and thrown back on the road to rot from now onward.
Almost as bad as the movie Risky Business, when a 928 ended up in the drink. "Who's the U-boat captain?"

This is not so unusual. Patrons of the "Pier" bar and dance club, located on a pier in Daytona have has their cars submerged and washed out to sea for over 50 years!
Don't park on the beach unless you are staying near your car!

The car isn't named after the Cayman islands, its named after the Caiman a mini alligator like reptile. In fact Porsche even adopted 4 of them when the car was released :)

@Noah Joseph: "It's bad enough when natural disasters lay waste to homes and coastline, but we're not sure we can bear the sight of this sort of car-carnage."
What you basically said was, it is worse to lose a $50K+ sports car, than to lose entire neighborhoods with $100K+ houses, not to mention the livelihoods being destroyed in the process. Once is bad enough, but this marks the second time you made light of human tragedies.
If you need a reminder, this is what you wrote before: "The sad truth is that yet another Prancing Horse has been destroyed... Seriously, it's like Saving Private Ryan, only with a supercar." When you compared the crash of a sports car to the deaths of thousands of US soldiers on Omaha beach in WW2 (as depicted in Saving Private Ryan), and now you compare the loss of another sports car to the destruction of livelihoods and entire neighborhoods, that shows extremely poor judgement and character on your part.

Oh you're soooooo sensitive??!! You wouldn't be a Democrat would you? Get a job so you'll have something to do instead of nitpicking ridiculous thoughts like you've stated. Gosh you're pitiful!

how do we know this is not photoshopped?.....I'm just sayin'......after that staged pelican brief bugatti, it is hard to know what's real.

@thenobleturd: If you have anything substantive to add to the discussion, by all means, please do so. But if all you can do is resort to name-calling, then I will excuse myself and have nothing to do with your type.

Cars get buried all of the time. Let's not make it news like how only blonde white girls get press for going missing.

Yeah I spotted this the other day and almost sent it in. It was a Cayman S also. She died just a few miles from where my folks live and, as a side note, where they filmed that Richard Gere gagfest "Nights in Rodanthe".
