Tragedy struck the streets of Maryland Wednesday when a pair of heavily armored Secret Service vehicles designed to escort the Vice President struck and killed a pedestrian at an intersection. Inside Line reports that the unfortunate accident occurred at 2:27 am Wednesday morning in rainy conditions as the armored Cadillac limo and Chevrolet Suburban were en-route from Andrews Air Force base to a secure storage location. Vice President Joe Biden was not on board when the incident took place.
The armored vehicles, which weigh over 13,000 pounds, are driven by employees who have taken a special protective operator's driving course. The Washington Post has quoted a Secret Service official as saying the vehicles' added heft makes the vehicles "trickier to handle than ordinary vehicles." The incident is currently under investigation by the U.S. Park Police.

The question is what the hell was the predestrian walking about in DC at 2:27 AM in the rain?

drunk? that's the only reason i've ever been out in dc after 2am. common sense typically prevents most people from wondering about dc that late.

People have night jobs, I managed a warehouse a few years ago that sold to supermarkets. I finshed up about 2 every night. Even if the person went out to a club or bar , it does not give the cars the right to run them over. what was the limo doing out that late.

"The question is what the hell was the predestrian walking about in DC at 2:27 AM in the rain?"
Because we don't have curfews, police states or martial law in the United States!
RIP to the departed!
Also, they could have been grabbing a coffee while working a 3rd shift at the local emergency room to save your arse if you had some medical problems in the AM...
Could been up to no good too! Who knows... Doesn't matter....
Just sayin...

Thank you Mike and Randy for being the voice of reason. I work the late (morning) shift sometimes too.

@ Lucas
I don't think anyone was blaming Obama. Why are you so paranoid, dude?
Besides, dude got a Nobel Prize for sitting on his ass. He really doesn't need for you to look out for him on the interwebs.
Lucas 2:23PM (11/13/2009)
@Ari... patience, if you refer to fed gov't, secret service, Washington area, or GM the blame will come.

This is AB's amusement on a slow news day. Let's see how many AB'ers read Huffington Post or FOX News & watch them ALL go nuts insulting each other's views.
Fun. (NOT)

I was going to post "In before the mouth-breathing right-wingers try to bring up Politics", but as I can see from NotYou's post I'm too late...

@travisty [sic, sigh...]: "I was going to post "In before the mouth-breathing right-wingers try to bring up Politics", but as I can see from NotYou's post I'm too late..."
...and I love seeing people stretch to pat themselves on the back feigning prescience for things they acknowledge have already taken place.
ie. "Wow, you post-predicted correctly, -again-! How do you do that?"
(!... must ... refrain ... from obvious political correlation ...!)

@Ari If you watch enough 24 hour news networks you'll find that everything will be somehow related to the president.
Tyrone V. Hoofendorfer 5:27PM (11/15/2009)
If Bush was the President and this happened all of the liberal ass wipes (pardon my redundancy) would be screaming about Bush; somehow blaming him. Why aren't your stupid America hating mouths shooting off now when we have this America hating Communist in office???

One wonders what a pedestrian was doing in an intersection in the rain, at half-past 2am...
But one also wonders if the drivers were driving those insanely heavy vehicles more carelessly than normal due to the late hour, in the rain, and not thinking any pedestrians would be around.
Sounds like a bad deal, and an unfortunate loss of life.

I agree with you, however, it has been a miserable couple of days around here with the rain, can't see anything, especially at night. It's still too bad about the death though.
geo.stewart 2:52PM (11/13/2009)
Gee, I dont wonder. Coming home from a date, homeless, coming home from work, going to a second job, ... many reasons.
we dont know if the guy was crossing against the light or if the driver was.
I guess the interesting part is that all articles say both cars hit the pedestrian. pedestrian's name was not released. Anybody know if a Fox Opinion writer is missing?
