Well, is it? Hard to say. We do know that both a new Audi A8 and A6 are headed our way sooner rather than later. Sooner, as in the South Florida International Auto Show for one of the new Audis, and/or Geneva for the other. We're pretty sure that the car captured in the video you'll soon be watching after the jump is the same sedan wearing the BMW-style psychotropic body wrap in our earlier post. Only now, watching the car in motion and especially seeing it next to other vehicles, we're just not sure the Audi in question is large enough to be an A8.
Which means we might just be looking at the 2011 Audi A6. And we have to say, it almost looks too small to be an A6. Watch as the test mule passes various hatches and economy cars and seems to be about the same height, if not over all size. Maybe the mule's black paint is playing tricks on us. Or maybe – just maybe – the new A6 is going to be smaller than the current car. Time will tell. Thanks for the tips, everyone!

My guess is 2011 Audi A8...but I can definitely understand the confusion.

It's an A8 and it's hot, but it seems a little "plain" compared to the S550. Mercedes, you created a beautiful car, I want the S550 with an AMG kit in White please. Neither the BMW 7 series nor this car holds a candle to the S550 with an AMG kit.

yup, it's an a8, it's a little early for an a6 to be at this stage in development, esp given the age of the current a8.

I agree it does look really plain... we will have to see when it's finally revealed, but the roofline looks almost identicle to the old A8, which I for one am quite happy about. I think the A8 is one of the classiest and most elegant cars on the road because it doesn't have obnoxious styling like the S class or the 7 series.

I can understand VW/Audi fanboy considering S-Class obnoxious. Anything that doesn't look like it's from 1995 looks obnoxious. Innovation is a bad thing. Let's stay in stone age and worship 4 zeroes.

i'd say it's the short wheelbase A8. it's a bit sober looking for the A6 which has a "faster" roofline.

C pillars are reminiscent of the CTS.... over all design is clean and nice,(audi plays it safe)

Never mind,,, what is going on with the C pillar. look closely its very strange. i think they have used a (decoy) peace of chrome trim for the test mule. the real one is painted black.

That's camo. Look again and that chrome strip is masking the rear little window and the typical small Audi c-pillar. I can't imagine they'd not chrome strip that little rear window.

Another reason I say the A8, is the rear door on an A6 is noticeably shorter than the front door. As the car roll by in the beginning it's easy to see the rear door as nearly the same size as the front door.

That looks to big to be an A6 and you can see an A4 (I pretty sure it is) at 0:22 and it looks much bigger than it. The latest generation A4 is much bigger than the previous, so I don't believe Audi would make the next-gen A6 smaller than the current. But who knows?

My vote goes for A8. The rear wheel looks to be too far back. I mean, on A6 the roofline extends a lot further back over the wheelwell (probably because, at some point, they are going to slap a station wagon body on that thing), but the profile of this one is very much like the A8. Also, the height of the tail lights suggests that this is the A8. Of course I could be wrong, in which case we are looking at a kick-ass reinvention of the A6.

i'd say a8 too... because of the lenght of the rear end. i guess an a6 would be closer to a fastback-kind of line there.

Thought it might be an A6 at first but it is more likely a short wheelbase A8.

What about the A7??? The C-pillar looks completely fake, indicating more of a 4-door coupe design, thus the A7.
