VIDEO: BMW teases new 5 Series sedan ahead of unveiling using amazing kinetic sculpture

We knew that BMW's pivotal 5 Series was slated for replacement soon, and we've seen plenty of spy shots to prove that it's in the cards. Up until just now, however, we didn't know when it would appear.
In a brief press release available after the jump, BMW promises that its new 5 Series will be revealed with a "Live-Stream of the unveiling ceremony" on November 23 at 8pm CET. In the meantime, the automaker has released a teaser video of an amazing kinetic sculpture at the BMW Museum that gives away the car's outline. You can check it out after the jump.

Countdown: The new BMW 5 Series Sedan at the BMW Group PressClub
Munich. The World Premiere of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, the synonym for aesthetics and Driving Pleasure in the premium middlerange segment, is about to take place.
From today, we are releasing a short trailer teasing at the sporting and elegant design of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, using the kinetic sculpture from the BMW Museum to create the silhouette.
On November 23rd, 8p.m. CET, the kinetic sculpture trailer will be replaced by a Live-Stream of the unveiling ceremony of the new BMW 5 Series Sedan. At the same time all relevant media information will be available for downloadind at the BMW Group PressClub.

Oh how exciting! I can see that there is a basic shape of a hood, trunk, and passenger compartment!

it is a bit exciting because it looks as thought BMW is returning to more of the pre bangled looks and integrating the headlights into that side crease almost a5 like. it could, quite possibly, be an attractive and a little more modern evolution of the current design... though the current 5 series didn't need fixing the way that horrid 7 series did.

I prefer Mercedes Benz C-class to the E...and I prefer the E class to the 5 series. BMW makes their cars so small and tight. The new 7 series for example lost ALL of its front seat space to over padding and a thick B pillar.

The E-class has MORE DRIVER'S SPACE than the new 750.
The E-class has more interior space than both the 3 and 5 and 7 for the front passenger and driver.
The S550 has more space in both rows than all the BMW's and the Lexus Ls460L

My friend's late '90s Suburban has more interior room than all the cars you just mentioned. Why don't we just all buy those?
I never understood this argument that because a car is bigger it's automatically better. That argument really only makes sense if you're obese. (And if you honestly think the driver's seat of a 7 series is "tight," that might very well be the case... in which case, I condescendingly apologize.)
Personally, if I wanted to drive a yacht, I'd buy one.
I really haven't been impressed with the current Benz design language, but the first shots of the new 5 are already in the latest Car & Driver, and it's GORGEOUS!

I'm very excited to see the new 5. I recently had a 2009 5-series as a loaner and it was such a nice ride, so I can only imagine how much improved the 2011 will be! Perhaps a 2015 5-series is in my future, so long as I can still get a stick!
