SEMA 2009: Ford Taurus puts on a good SHO
We didn't expect much from Ford's new fulls-size four-door at this year's SEMA show, but the quartet of Taurus Concepts were actually pretty impressive. The design lends itself better to customization than we might've thought, and we wouldn't be surprised to see quite a few owners personalizing the look of their cars.
The favorite Taurus around the Autoblog camp seemed to be the SHO built by Mobsteel with its sinister Jet Black paint, subtle body kit, and a 400 horsepower version of the EcoBoost V6. We also (surprisingly) liked the one built by Funkmaster Flex, along with the clean and simple SHO from MRT-Direct. You can see all four cars in our gallery of live photos below.

I like the silver one with the black two-tone the best. They all look cool though.

I'm really liking the new Taurus....especially the SHO. The new Taurus is a sizable vehicle and adding the EcoBoost system with AWD just makes sense.

I dig the white one.

Yeah, I'm liking the white one the best too. But any of them would do...

Well...in those flavors...it's certainly less bland and certainly doesn't look like a Camry like the factory car.......but they also made the car horribly ugly.
Can't anyone find a happy medium?

No matter what Ford does, you will never be satisfied.

I can't tell if each comment you make is dumber than the last or if you hit rock bottom a long time ago and have managed to stay at the same exact level since.
Let's just say that none of your statements is anything less than idiotic and be done with it.

Can't anyone convince you to just go away?

I see my SHO in black or white, no shades of gray, until I read Matt. Then I see red.

Not true.
If they brought the Falcon here rather than introducing a porky, bland, Camry looking, V6 sedan that destroys everything that SHO stood for...I would be in line right now to buy one...it has proper RWD, and a 400HP "BOSS" 5.4 V8. No boat anchor V8 for the Aussies.

No one is forcing you to read or reply to my posts. Why do you continue to stalk me?

they managed to make the car look heavier with huge wheels.

I saw these cars in person at the show, and they look MEAN!

I wish the Taurus were lighter - it's way too heavy. And I don't get the rear styling, especially the taillights. It just doesn't seem to go with the rest of the car.

I agree, I like the front well enough, but the rear is terrible. I saw this car in person for the first time this week-- what is especially egregious is how the character line that originates at the front quarter panels is interrupted by the swell of the rear fenders, then is continued for a few inches behind the rear wheel. Nasty.

Agreed, they should trim the entire back end. The front is so aggressive and well styled, and then the back screams "your grandparents like this car."

What's up with the partially assembled Mustang in the background, on the four-post lift? I'd like to see an AB article on that.

I like the silver one. No wait, the white one! No, no, no, the red one!! No...hmmmmmmmmm...I guess I love them all so much I really can't decide! Oh please, take them away before I faint! But I have to choose one because everybody wants to know what color I like best. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I can't, I can't! Oh darn!

The Mobsteel version is ghetto. Surprisingly, the FMF version is the cleanest.

They all look incredible. Hopefully this will help open aftermarket on the full-sized sedan. :D
