SEMA 2009: Lingenfelter takes the wraps off 750-horsepower Camaro SS

The controversially-styled T/A Concept wasn't the only car that Lingenfelter Performance Engineering brought out to SEMA this year. Yesterday the legendary performance company unveiled its 2010 Camaro SS, and we made sure to stop by the Hotchkis booth to see the car in person.
With a modified version of the 427ci LS7 V8, the Lingenfelter Camaro is a serious contender for the most potent Camaro on the show floor. With a Magnuson supercharger, titanium connecting rods, forged JE pistons and titanium intake valves, the 7.0-liter motor pushes out 750 horsepower! Performance upgrades also include a clutch and flywheel from the ZR1 that have a better shot at standing up to the abuse, Corsa exhaust system, Brembo brakes, Hotchkis suspension components and more.
Visually, the Camaro gets Lingenfelter's body kit that leaves no panel untouched including a carbon fiber grille, a hood with functional air extractors and custom 10-spoke wheels. Read more about the car after the jump, or check out our live photos in the high-res gallery below.

DECATUR, Ind. - Always on the leading-edge of performance refinement, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) will once again show its muscle, debuting a 750 hp supercharged 2010 LS7 Camaro SS engine and performance package at the 2009 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. The vehicle will be displayed at the Hotchkis Sport Suspension booth 24442, Tuesday, Nov. 3 - Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas.

"Our LS7 Camaro SS package follows that tradition. In addition to the road-shattering 750 hp engine, the performance and body enhancements deliver stunning refinements in both power and curb appeal for one of today's most sought-after sports cars."
With a focus on supercharging the Camaro's power plant, the Lingenfelter 427 CID/7.0L LS7 engine features an 8.8:1 compression ratio with forged JE pistons, production GM LS7 crankshaft and titanium connecting rods, and LS7 cylinder heads with titanium intake valves and Inconel exhaust valves. Other engine upgrades include:
* Magnuson/Eaton TVS2300 supercharger
* Custom-fabricated LS7 cylinder head supercharger base manifold
* Lingenfelter 14-rib rear drive system with tensioner pulley
* Lingenfelter/ATI Racing 10-rib front accessory drive
* Lingenfelter heavy duty power steering pump
* Lingenfelter low temperature thermostat
* Custom Lingenfelter coil covers
In addition to ensuring the LS7 Camaro SS delivers more raw power, the 2010 Lingenfelter package ups the ante on overall performance and also features: Lingenfelter 6-bolt LS9 twin disk flywheel and clutch assembly; Lingenfelter Camaro SS twin pump fuel system with Lingenfelter fuel pump controller; Lingenfelter double adjustable Sachs shocks; heavy duty Driveshaft Shop halfshafts; Brembo brake calipers and rotors; Corsa stainless exhaust system; and Hotchkis suspension springs, anti-sway bars and subframe brace.
Body enhancements are also part of the Lingenfelter LS7 Camaro SS package. The 2010 SEMA display vehicle features a front fascia splitter, rocker extensions, carbon fiber grille, new hood with air extractors, rear deck lip and spoiler; rear fascia extension; and Lingenfelter Performance Engineering exhaust tips. Custom Lingenfelter 10-spoke design wheels with Pirelli 275/40ZR20 tires on the front and Pirelli 305/35ZR20 on the back are also part of the performance upgrades.
A number of driver comfort, performance and style improvements finish off the Lingenfelter package, including: Muth turn signal mirrors; Mito rear view mirror with video display; Lingenfelter/Grant custom steering wheel; and Lingenfelter-brand CNC machined pedal covers, floor mats and embroidered interior.
Coveted Lingenfelter badges are emblazoned on the 2010 LS7 Camaro SS exterior, indicating the vehicle's authenticity as a certified Lingenfelter creation.

I am not a GM fan. You have to like one with a 750 HP V8. I remeber years ago there was a twin turbo big block Trans Am in Car Craft it put out over 1400HP.

What would really be news worthy would be if someone could figure out how to get this thing to look less massive. Is it a muscle car or a sedan?
It's a great design at it's heart but the proportions are completely out of whack and don't work. I want to like it more and gave one another hard look yesterday in a parking lot and the thing is just freaking gargantuan. I'm talking Oprah meets Tyra Banks on a twinkie binge fat! It looks massive next to other coupes not to mention next to four dour sedans like a camry.
I'm sorry but it just looks bloated and out of place like a 40 year old ex high school jock who is now 350 lbs, balding, and thinks he looks cool in his Ed Hardy wear. The new camaro is the automotive equivalent of Ed Bundy from Married with Children. Give me the original over any of these tired, fat refried 5,500 lb "musclecars" any day.

Have you seen the car in person?
I really don't understand why people think this car looks so big??? I think it looks about the size of a mustang... If you check the specs, the Camaro is within 2 inches in every dimension category. If you want to see big and out of proportion, go look at the Challenger. It weighs just as much as it looks and then some.
And man... 750 HP.. I just wanna HEAR this thing. VID PLEASE!!!

@Kevin ..who hasnt seen one of these in person yet? i seen about 6 of these on saturday ( I do live in Vegas though so they are all over town now) ..and yes they are pretty big ...on paper it doesnt seem that big ...but when sitting next to a mustang ..it "looks" alot bigger ..the mustang visually looks smaller
we all know the Challenger is HUGE ..lets not hurt its feelings anymore then it is lol

Maybe I just think it's big because I see a '69 everyday and can't help but use it as a comparison. Love the motor, love the idea, but still think it feels huge. Meaningless or not.

I completely agree. It looks fine in pictures, but it is far too big in person. It's disappointing because I was really eager to have these cars around. Truthfully, in person, they look bigger than any other coupe or sedan on the road. They're Caprice Classic 1992 Shamu-the-car big, and that's not always a good thing.
If only they could have kept it as compact as a BMW 3-series, Corvette, or Porsche 911 size, it would have been perfect. In fact, the Corvette is the exact opposite. The Corvette looks big in pictures, but small in person.

I agree that the 67 to 69 camaro looked much better. These are hardly 5500 LB cars as you state. With this much power they would destroy most cars on the road. How could anyone not like this car?

the engine ....WONDERFUL ...
that body kit ...HORRIBLE ...some people need to learn to leave some things alone
these camaros just do not look good with body kits ..is it just me or does it look like two bodykits ...one on top of the other...
i havent seen one that i liked...although I did like The Dusk one they showed yesterday cause it was clean ..simple and made the Camaro look a little more refined

What a POS, looks like he went down to the local auto parts store and bought every Chinese made accessory and put it on the car. They sure do have strange taste in cars out in the midwest...no wonder Detroit has been losing market share for 30 years.

I like the Camaro from my local dealer better. Give me an SS Camaro and I'll be happy. I think the ligenfelter looks to fake. I'm sure its fast though!
