SpongeBob SquarePants Impala by IMF Kustoms - Click above for high-res image gallery
We were cruising through the back part of the central hall at
SEMA, on the prowl for
Camaros,
Mustangs,
Challengers something interesting when we were stopped dead in our tracks by this masterful use of pigment, cleverly disguising a late-eighties Chevy Caprice. Looks like SpongeBob has traded his pineapple for a box. The graphics are really stunning up close and depict everyone's favorite sponge in a variety of vignettes. The whole SpongeBob gang is there -- Patrick, Gary, Mr. Krabs, Squidward and Plankton are all there. Classic. Just one of the beautifully airbrushed vehicles we hope to share with you this week. Oh, and although it's a bit hard to see from the pics, the interior was equally well adorned -- seats, dash, headliner, the whole nine yards. Check it in the gallery below.

Oh come on Autoblog, really?
Why would you post this?
This is a serious auto enthusiasts site, not HoodRUs.
This crap has no place on here.

I kind of doubt this article was meant to be taken 100% seriously.
Lighten up.

Venom...Take a chill pill...
I actually chuckled a bit reading the title.

I find this article, the car, and yes, even autoblog to be very sponge-worthy.

Sorry for my bias, but this car is way too ugly and only reminds me of wanna-be rappers thinking they're cool.

i dunno, i really like it for some reason. the art is fantastic, and the colors are supposed to be a little ridiculous - this is spongebob after all, not something serious.

I actually like that body style of Caprice/Impala. It's simplicity and angular lines have aged well.
Bart 7:58PM (11/03/2009)
That paintjob is just awesome.

I see cars like this (not this well done, of course) in Birmingham, AL pretty frequently. It kinda scares me that this car being in SEMA will expand / give credence to the scene (whatever scene it is). It seems putting 30s with a lift kit on your old hooptie is the first step to local stardom. After that, you get a bad paint job and some WTF decals. It's so bizarre.
