SEMA 2009: Breaker, breaker, we got ourselves a Bandit
Last year in Las Vegas, graphic designer Kevin Morgan showed off the first Trans Am rebody of the new Camaro at SEMA 2008. This year he is back with T/A version 2.0 for SEMA 2009. While the original "Phoenix" T/A 1.0 had the Bandit color combo we know and love, a few of the details were off in making it a true '77-'78 Trans Am redo.
For this year's show he's rectified that situation with a new quad-headlight front fascia and a few other changes that bring it more in line with the uber Firebirds we remember from our misspent youths. Slip into one of these black and gold Trans Ams and before you know it you'll be East Bound and Down, calling for the Snowman on your CB to help you stay one step ahead of Smokey. Built in conjunction with fabricator Todd Otto, one-off versions can be ordered to spec, and a kit version will also be made available through Trans Am Depot starting in early 2010.

I just wish they didn't use the color black--it's hard to see the details. I can barely make out the tail lights.
Really nice looking nonetheless--and yeah those headlights look a lot like the E46 BMW.

With the exception of that stoo-pid rear spoiler, this is a lot closer homage to '70s Trans-Ams than the Lingenfelter 455. But I still think this body style begs for a nose and tail more like '67-'68 Firebirds than '70s Trans-Ams.

When are they going to stop fooling around with 2nd and 3rd gen firebird designs, and actually fit a FIRST GEN re-fit to the car? The one body-style that is supposed to fit with the first gen retro of the Camaro's roofline...

YES! That's exactly what I keep saying when I see these.
It's a 1st gen retro body, put on a '67 - '68 Firebird nose and tail!
I personally like the 2nd and 3rd gens better, but grafting those onto this is SO STOOOOOOPID!

Nice car!! Don't see much of a market for it now. Most of the young Arab guys in Dearborn who would buy it, have moved on to Mercedes and BMW's.

First post gets it right. This is a much better re-interpretation than the Lingenfelter attempt we saw a few days ago. The headlight treatment is much more professional / OEM looking, and the 3-piece wheels capture the spirit of the originals without looking too retro. Certainly the thunder-chicken and rear spoiler are not to everyone's taste, but overall, nicely turned out.
