Autoblog Podcast #151: With Eddie Alterman of Car and Driver
Abuelsamid, Lieberman, Roth and Shunk. Sounds like a law firm, but it's this week's podcast crew. Car and Driver editor-in-chief Eddie Alterman bravely wades into the pool and joins us for Episode #151 of the Autoblog Podcast, as well.
We spend a goodly amount of time going over what's in all five garages this week, before picking up actual topics. Once into news, we move through the Honda Accord Crosstour's pricing and impending launch, Ford's profitable quarter and union dealings, Edmunds' dust-up with the White House, and wrap with what might be cool at the crazy automotive cavalcade that is SEMA. It's an hour and twenty minutes of rollicking good times, so let us know what you think by dropping us an email at Podcast at Autoblog dot com, reviewing the show in iTunes, filling out our survey, or even leaving us a voicemail on our Google Voice line 734-288-8POD (734-288-8763). Thanks for listening, we'll see you next week!

I agree the eco boost is not really "eco" but the name is getting people into the showroom thinking that this is a greener option. Ford also claims the eco boost reduces CO2 emissions over the normal 3.5 engine but does not say by how much. You might feel pretty good about driving an Edge with a 2 liter with eco boost rather than the 3.5. Ford could have called it the S-line like Audi but I think the marketing team trying to change the image of Ford. We all know we would by the eco boost for performance not for better mileage.

Jonny Lieberman is the worst. I don't know why you guys give him so much respect. Please fire him. He is the worst thing about Autoblog

On the subject of the Focus. I have a 2006 Focus ZX4 ST and I love it. I am amazed at how well it drives. The leather interior is really nice. I average around 30 mpg on the freeway and 25 mpg around town. It does have the "street package" which is a little embarrassing at times.
I had an earlier 2000 ZTS and loved it. It reminded me of a min-Lincoln in terms of luxury (leather seats, etc...) I don't like the current Focus at all. It reminds of an evolution of the last Escort (the truly ugly 4-door Escort).
Having said that, the new Focus and Fiesta really can't hit the US soon enough.
Another great podcast. I do not care for Johhny Lieberman either.
