A new Chrysler logo takes wing?
New Chrysler logo filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
Tomorrow, we'll get the official skinny from Chrysler on what the automaker's product plans are over the next few years. As the Fiat-directed new (and new again) Chrysler looks to break free from the shackles of mediocrity and reinvent itself, a filing at the U.S. Patent and Trademark office appears to confirm an Allpar report published earlier this month, showing the new winged logo that will presumably adorn cars coming from the Chrysler division. The look is sleeker and clearly more modern than the previous winged logo, which incorporated the old Chrysler seal. The new one has an almost Aston-esque vibe to it, featuring "Chrysler" embossed in a blue emblem centered between the outstretched wings. Allpar also reports that Dodge cars will ditch the Ram's-head logo for something all their own as well. We've got a feeling everything will be revealed during Chrysler's marathon six-hour press briefing tomorrow, so stay tuned for more. Thanks to Mike for the link!

Looks clean but not really all that special.

Aston Martin wants their logo back! It's just stretched outward is all!

Aston Martin, MINI, Hyundai Genesis (although the Genesis has a more 'blocky' logo), now this. Any more wings I'm missing? Oh there's Bentley as well.

I agree. It seems U.S. automakers lack in creativity. This looks like something that would have been seen from the 40's and 50's.

"It seems U.S. automakers lack in creativity." Really? Have you seen the new Audi logo?

Maybe they should spend a little more time designing and engineering cars people want to buy and a little less time worrying about the logo.

They've been working on better cars already, MM. This is about rebranding and remaking a company that was dragged through the dirt for the past few years.

xactly. Logo's inspire pride. They shoulda kept the old one, made better vehicles, and then give people a new appreciation of the old logo.

Or any other marketing bullsh*t, for that matter.
Do the product, then concentrate on the marketing - hopefully they'll market the logo with the new products.

Yeah I'm with MM here.
Seems like standard big three practice here. Conversation goes like this:
Analyst: "Nobody likes Chrysler and they think our products suck!"
Executive: "We'd better create a new logo and branding ASAP!"
It's the same mindset that has GM renaming their cars every 1-2 product cycles.
Analyst: "Nobody likes the Cavalier. They think it's a POS!"
Executive: "Quick! Rename the next one the Cobalt!"
Make. Better. Products.
Stick to it. If at first customers don't come, keep the superior product and eventually the public's mindset will change about your cars. *cough* G8 *cough*

chrysler is a soiled brand, they need to change their identity if they are to succeed

The phrase you're looking for is "polishing a turd"...

The most important part will be how large this thing is across the grill/hood area. Will it be small and subtle? Or large and in your face?
The design is ok. I don't think it is as modern as many others' logos.
The proof with any car is in the pudding. How they look, drive, and perform over time. Not a logo.

Engineering dept: People hate our cars very much, and have voted with their dollars. I think we need some sort of a new strategy to introduce quality vehicles at a competitive price point, especially the bread and butter vehicles.
Marketing dept: That doesn't sound right, let's put fancy badges on it.

Yeah, if only Fiat Marketing had come up with something useful, like "100,000 miles bumper-to-bumper coverage" or "lifetime powertrain" or even "60 day return, no strings attached"...

I like it. It is a more modern and clean design. As mentioned before we want to know about the product more though.

Couldn't agree more. Fratzog should have been on that R/T Classic pack for the Challenger already.
