VIDEO: 0-60 pits Ford Raptor against BMW X6 M in winter issue
Raptor vs. X6 M: Click above to watch the video after the jump
The Ford SVT Raptor and the BMW X6 M are alike in that both vehicles represent the most extreme versions of their base forms. The Raptor, with its the triple-bypass Fox shocks and 35-inch tires, is a Baja-ready version of the F-150 right off the showroom floor. Meanwhile, the BMW X6 M is the 550-horsepower speed-demon version of the mild-mannered X6 luxury crossover. The two rides have little in common other than their extreme, top-tier positioning, yet 0-60 Magazine has found a way to put the two together for its Winter 2010 issue.
We don't know what the gang at 0-60 actually did with the Raptor and the X6 M, but the magazine has managed to slap together a teaser video to whet the palette. Hit the jump to watch 0-60 have a bit of fun with the X6 M and the SVT Raptor. And if you're not a big fan of the vid, you can simply sit back and enjoy the 1:21-minute excerpt of Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" that sets the aural backdrop to the onscreen mayhem.

Definitely, but fun. Actually, a better comparison would have been a Cayenne which might actually be able to do some airborne stunts.

It's not a Comparison! They just got both vehicles to review at the same time. Pay attention.

Sounds to me like they are comparing them both, evne tho they both excel at different things (not something which they share, even though they do share that..)
Will be an interesting read!

I'd like to see the X6M take a 20' vertical jump.
That would have funny consequences I think.

for sure, especially after that cracked oil which afflicted that x5 driver who mistakenly drove over a few other cars in that parking lot. off road vehicles the X series are not.

I'm picturing a Top Gear-esque race where the X6M takes the winding road and the Raptor cuts across country.

My thoughts exactly, because, let's be honest, the X6 M is as useless off the road as the Raptor is on the road.

You listening Jezza?

@Arkz
I would wager that the Raptor's on road use is a bit better then the X6 M's off road use. Considering the raptor can drive on both, and the X6 wouldnt.
Man i want a Raptor...

There is no comparison, no American car can hold a candle to a BMW. I was a Ford guy my entire life, owned 7 Ford cars/vans all of which gave good service for the money, then bought a 2001 BMW 530i. It is the best car I have ever owned, the handling, ride, acceleration, and durabiltiy have been superb and are nearly as good now as when I took delivery. I drive all cars until they become unreliable or unsafe and, after 8-9 years, despite really good care, all of my prior Fords showed a lot of wear with stuff going wrong frequently( the unhappy combination of high tech and cheap); this BMW hasn't had a problem yet and may make 20. Now I could have bought 2 Fords for the price and perhaps it would be a wash financially, and newer Fords are clearly better than in the past but they aren't no BMW.

Oh goodie! I have been torn between this high end ORV and a luxury german SUV for quite some time now. This comparison should settle it!

Who cares about specialty cars like the Raptor?
They won't save Ford.
What ford needs to do is learn how to make good bread-and-butter CARS not trucks, like the transplants.
Everyone drooling over the Raptor needs to spend some time in a rental Focus (like I had to last week), then you'll know why Ford is in trouble.

Or you can spend some time in a loaded Flex rental like I recently did and see where Ford has made absolute strides in the types of vehicles they produce over the last 5 years.
Was it a work provided rental for you? A Focus? Find a company that doesnt cheap out and youll get better cars.

I rented it for a business trip and it was the only thing Enterprise desk at the airport had available. Well either that or (shudder) on Aveo. The decision wasn't difficult, given those two choices.
