Old Yeller: 2010 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic in Detonator Yellow
2010 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic in Detonator Yellow - Click above for high-res image gallery
While it lacks the agility of the Mustang GT and the raw knuckle-dragging power of the Camaro SS, the Dodge Challenger drips with style and no small amount of comfort, plus it's plenty fun in its own right, too. As you all know, there's not a lot of new stuff going on with Chrysler's 2010 lineup, so to keep things interesting with the Challenger, they're doing it with colors. We've seen the big coupe in Plum Crazy already, and now, via Red Letter Dodge, we have our first look at a Challenger R/T Classic in Detonator Yellow, the special "high impact" color that preceded the currently-available Plum Crazy. Not shabby. Check it out in high-res in the attached gallery.

This one of the few modern cars that look good with chrome wheels. Easily the best looking modern muscle car coming out of Detroit.

It does look good, but I think I'd like it with black wheels better.

Love it!

Looks good, buuuuuut....I think Dodge is going to milk this "modern muscle" a little too much.

How so? The only difference in what they're doing now, from what they've been doing since 05 is the fact that people are covering it and doing stories on the updates. Take a look at the charger's history. Or the viper, or the srt 4 before that... Maybe not muscle, but they damn sure tried to make it seem that way with that little thing.

"While it lacks the agility of the Mustang GT and the raw knuckle-dragging power of the Camaro SS"
.........................I could have sworn the Challenger comes with the same amount of power as the Camaro SS.............
I guess that extra one horsepower makes the Camaro have "knuckle-dragging power".

The Dodge is much more overweight, though.

Isn't the Camaro SS more of the R/T competitor? So therefore it has a 54 horsepower advantage for roughly the same price?
If you're talking SRT-8 v. SS then the Challenger costs more than $10,000 more and has a 1 horsepower deficit. No thanks.

Too bad the company that builds it is in a coma if not dead, huh?

great design work applied to a chassis that wasn't meant for it. This car desperately needs to sit an inch lower and get a new dashboard.

this car is very accommodating for its intended audience. its not a sports car, its a big, powerful touring car that is good to look at. for that purpose, job well done!

the sales numbers don't bear that out. Since the camaro came out and the mustang was updated it's barely outselling the 2004 gto during its run. I get it that the car is supposed to be a bit more comfortable. That's fine. But it also seems like the car isn't competing well and in my opinion, the lousy looking interior and crazy wheel gaps are holding it back

Yes adding some new colors is some how going to increase its pitiful sales barely even 1700 a month. I would be surprised if it even moves 10,000 units next year.

I like it. It is a muscle car, goes like stink in a straight line, is so-so in the curves. Good thing most of the US is flat. The colors are a good idea, I like the classic package with traditional lettering and the wheels too.
Mustang isn't selling because buyers in the know are waiting for the 5.0 next year or the new V6 with 300 hp. I am thinking there will be some good deals to be had on 2010 Mustangs in a few months.
I still fear Chrysler depreciation (cliff-like) but if you want it and want to keep it for many years then it is a good buy. A used Chrysler is even more terrifying. What is the life span of a Chrysler these days? 60,000 miles? I've always wanted Chrysler to succeed, it is kinda like rooting for the Lions. You know that somewhere deep in the bowels are some people that really care and work super hard, but no matter what, it is doomed. I hope I am wrong.

60 000 miles? My 05 Chrysler 300 V6 has 130 000 trouble free miles, and my wife is still driving 01 Grand Caravan with 170 000 miles mostly trouble free, just tires, brakes
and one water pump. Not bad

Pretty ignorant comment there honestly.
I guess a 600K mile 98 Dakota doesn't qualify?

BTW, the FRAME hasn't rusted to bits (IE: Toyota). I have no issues with any car from any manufacturer to hit 200K miles with no issues. All of my Chryslers have went past 150K with nothing but brakes, and rubber products, along with the GM's that I have owned.

Resale value for the Challenger is excellent. Used ones are selling at or near the original sticker price and according to kbb.com, the trade in value of my 09 R/T is slightly higher than what I paid for it. Resale values on Jeep Wranglers are good too.
As far as the average Chrysler having a lifespan of 60,000 miles, maybe you should look at the odometer of my Dodge Ram with 216,000 miles (never rebuilt.)
