Smashing a giant pumpkin with Grave Digger - Click above to watch the video

Those punk kids who TP your neighborhoods and smash pumpkins on mischief night? Rank amateurs. If you want to do something, do it right – an idea that Conan O'Brien clearly has a handle on. Hence, when it came time to smash a pumpkin on The Tonight Show, he procured the world's largest, and the blunt instrument he calls upon to do the smashing is Dennis Anderson's Grave Digger. You all know how this ends. The video's posted after the jump. Thanks to Shawn for the heads-up!

      Dennis Anderson is the MAN!!!

I can still remember his 1st tv appearance on ESPN, when they were showing Monster truck racing. Man how time flies!!!

Wow the suspension on that thing is really impressive. Not just the scale of it, but how it works. The way the front end lifts up when he accelerates, and then when he comes to a stop the rear end goes way up and then GENTLY moves back down. It almost looks like he is controlling that from the drivers seat.

Also, it may just be the camera angle but it looks like he almost took out that parked Chevy truck just before he goes up on the curbs at the edge of the parking lot there.

That Grave Digger truck is the most advanced truck when it comes to technology. The shock setup is custom designed for that race chassis. I believe the engine sits low and toward the center of the truck, and he is able to cause the front of the truck to bottom out using the throttle. Hit the gas, and the front suspension expands while the rear compresses. This allows him to launch off of a 20'+ tall launch ramp and fly 50-80 feet in the air at a height of over 50-60'. When the truck lands it lands like a CORR or Baja truck would, very nice and soft, it's very amazing to see in person.

Most Monster Trucks, including every Grave Digger truck, has front and rear steer, this allows the truck to turn very tight turns quickly and easily. He hits a rear steer switch with a left and right toggle in conjunction with using the steering wheel. When he's out of the corner the switch senses this and automatically centers the rear tires.

Thanks Autoblog for posting this! As a fan of Monster Jam and Grave Digger, I'm happy to see a positive reaction! :)

Am I the only one who thinks Conan isn't funny? Constant hysteria, making the same faces and fart jokes doesn't make me laugh.

Conan doesn't do fart jokes. He does what David Letterman USED to do. Crazy sketches and stunts to keep us entertained. I think he's great at it. Yes, I'll admit, the Masturbating Bear is pretty low brow but it's almost an homage to low brow it's so low brow.

Why did you even watch the video if you think Conan isn't funny? What better way is there to smash a giant pumpkin than with a monster truck! Awesome!
Nick, I'm totally with you. Craig Fergusson is way funnier, not to mention Chelsea Handler. I can't stand O'Brien.
His sketches are great! Like this one.

This pumpkin smashing was actually deserving of being called epic.

      Gotta love Conan.

Conan sucks, but, that was an awesome display of pointlessness.

      I love Grave Digger.

As much of a waste of horsepower and engineering that monster trucks are... damnit if they aren't impressive! :)
His control over it was amazing! I thought he was going to hit the building towards the end.

That was awesome! Imagine how many pumpkin pies that thing could make!

        @Carlos
Big pumpkins make gross pumpkin pies... the small ones are sweeter and more flavorful.

Big pumpkins are best for carving...

        ...or smashing.
