PRESS RELEASE:
The latest Corvette GTR by Specter Werkes/Sports debuts Nov. 3 at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Distinguished by its unique, BASF Pearl Blue exterior color and HRE CF40 carbon fiber wheels, the newest GTR will be on display outside the Las Vegas Convention Center's Central Hall, as a feature vehicle for HRE.
Based on the Corvette Z06, this new GTR also represents a collaboration between Specter Werkes and Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, with a Lingenfelter twin-turbo system powering the car – and pumping its 7.0-liter LS7 engine to 800 horsepower.
"Specter GTRs have been featured at SEMA for many years and we're excited to debut the most unique example to date at this year's show," said Jeff Nowicki, president of Specter Werkes/Sports. "From the BASF pearl paint and HRE carbon wheels, to the Lingenfelter engine, there's never been a GTR like this one and we think it will resonate with sports car enthusiasts of all stripes."
Featuring dramatic bodywork and carbon fiber details, the GTR blends racing-inspired design cues with uncompromising luxury and performance. The Specter Werkes/Sports GTR package is available on all C6 Corvette models, including the base coupe and convertible, the Z06 and ZR1. The new, Pearl Blue example's carbon fiber wheels and other carbon accents are complemented by a matte black rear fascia.
The use of HRE carbon fiber wheels is a first on a GTR. They weigh only 22 pounds apiece and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Zero Pressure tires. Additional features on the new GTR include:
- StopTech STR big-brake package, featuring six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers
- Mobil 1 synthetic fluids
- Corsa exhaust system with GTR-specific exhaust tips
- Spinneybeck hand-tipped leather interior accents
- Matte-finish carbon fiber accents, including the headlamp housing, front splitter, outside mirrors and more

I agree man, that thing's ugly, the only nice things on it are the wheels and paint, the body work is awful.

That blue is amazing.
I do like the sides though. It adds some edge without overdoing it. The front could grow on you but the back is aweful mainly do to the color. It needs more of the super blue color.

That blue is a fantastic color. The body kit is an atrocious appendage.
Everything that is different is changed for the worse. And I happen to think the C6 could use some sharpening, in the image department, as the front bumper design looks a bit playskool, along with the interior, and the stock rear treatment is blank. This kit doesn't help, and looks worse.

Not a fan of the paint scheme or the hood, but love the rest of the car, especially the rear.

I'm sure i'll be downranked and hated for this but: corvette needs to die.
unefficient, absolutely boring interior and somewhat boring exterior, and a drive just as good or less so than its competitors.
the only thing it's got going for it is it's big engine and the "heritage" that the corvette has.
gimme a mustang, S4, m3, 335i, is-f, camaro, a5 any day.

I don't think you have a clue.

I'm a Ford guy and even I know he doesn't have a clue. Since when is a 430hp and 27 mpg hwy inefficient? As for the drive, it really doesn't HAVE any competitors. The Mustangs and Camaros can approach it on price but I bet the base corvette will still beat them all around the track. They are completely different animals. Yes the interior sucks and the front bumper is a bit bland for my taste but it's still an amazing performance car.
I usually don't like most body-kitted cars, but I think this looks awesome. And unlike most I love the matte black rear. The contrast with the blue looks sweet.
gtb75 11:53AM (10/29/2009)
First - this is about the only body kitted Corvette that I can actually stand.
Second - I know he doesn't have a clue. As somebody who actually owns a C6 Z06, I've seen as high as 30.6 MPG on the with the car... That coming from a car with a 7L V8 and putting down 459 RWHP. Also, a base C6 would equal or beat the performance of any of he cars he has listed. Yes, the interior isn't class leading, but no other sports car offers that level of overall performance, efficiency, and utility (22 cu. ft of cargo space) for the money. And don't go off saying that my 7L V8 is inefficient because it puts down only 505HP for such a big motor... My LS7 weighs only 13 lbs more than the 4L V8 in the M3 which puts down only 414HP. No, pushrod V8's don't put down high HP per liter, but only a fool would complain about an extra 91 HP for 13 lbs.
