The 2009 and 2010 Nissan Altima and Maxima are being recalled over a suspension issue. The problem is the upper front strut insulators on some cars, which might not meet specified tolerances and therefore crack. Nissan is notifying owners this month and the repair will be taken care of by dealers, who will replace the strut insulators on both sides. Follow the jump to read the notice from the NHTSA. Okay, then, Ford is looking better and better...
Is that better?

Why are you even comparing Hyundai, second most reliable and highest ranked in initial quality of all non-premium automakers, to a mediocre brand such as Nissan? I don't understand. If I were to be an engineer at Hyundai, I would be very insulted.

@Vizel
You win.

Nowadays, when I think of Nissan...the GT-R comes to mind, but that's about it.

Does this include the Hybrid model?
My father just bought one during the cash for clunkers deal

did you read that it said parts not build to spec tolerances
that means the supplier shipped parts that did not meet the Nissan Spec
happens a lot
not to let nissan off the hook as they are supposed to have in place quality controll that would identify such issues and not allow any bad produt to make it in the field
but it happens to all manufacturers plenty of times

This issue with the Altima actually has been known for a few years now.

I have a 09 coupe and I have the same popping noise in the front and rear. I am so disappointed in this car. I wish I would have kept my 2002 Celica with 120.00. miles on it. I never had 1 problem with the Celica and the car never rattled or popped. I wonder how long I will be in the dealer for this now.

really,
they just recalled a bounch of cars not too long ago due to hte airbag blowing in the drivers face when the car was put in park
i'd really love to see one of these videos make it to Americas Funniest Videos Show
- getting blasted by the airbag as you put it in park has got to be a funny moment

There was a similar recall on the rear suspension on my '02 Altima. Dealer replaced the "entire" rear suspension under recall.
There was also a recall on the SE-R Sentra for intake manifold screws that weren't torqued/lock-tighted properly which could cause the screw to come loose and be ingested into the intake and subsequently shred the catalytic converter. I found out about that because my Altima did the same thing, however because there was no recall for the Altima (even though it was basically the same engine) my car was not fixed. I was however, after the dealer talked to Nissan, offered a trade in for more than I owed on the car, coincidence? I now have a Rogue with the same engine again... tempting my luck?
I'm on my 3rd Nissan/Datsun and for all the problems I've had I would still buy another. I guess I'm a sucker but they work well for me and Nissan has done the right thing when they didn't work.

How many times will Autoblog repost the same thing???

Art G needs to learn the 'art' of the search function.

And you need to learn not to shoot from the hip. I submitted this tip back in September when it was released by NHTSA but wasn't credited then. Ask Autoblog why they decided to repost it.

I love American cars but the Nissan Altima is one of the few Japanese cars I would consider buying. I love the styling of this car. When I purchase my next car this car will be on the test drive list. I don't really care the recall because all the manufacturers have recalls.

you think , here in canada hyundai as a major recall , due to rust problem on the engine crossmember ,on a lot of model , I dont know but when your engine fall in the street when your driving , its not that great of a car neither . So nissan is not that bad as a lot of other brands .
