The 700-hp Hennessy CTS-V meets OnStar -- Click above to watch video

On its way to doing the 1/4-mile in 11.07 seconds at 128 mph, a Hennessy-tuned 700-horsepower Cadillac CTS-V hit .99 longitudinal G as it left the start line. By the end of the run the phone inside the car was ringing, and it was your friendly neighborhood OnStar representative wondering "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Ok, not quite... but they did have some questions. Follow the jump to watch the video.

Wow, I didn't know all that about Hennessey. I remember when his cars first started showing up in shootouts in the car mags, they were notoriously ill-tempered and intractable, and prone to throw rods or hole pistons. Lou Gigliotti's is about five minutes from my house. I've visited there, and it seems like a well-run shop, and on the up-and-up.

      -----------
LG Motorsports is as bad as the John H.
Header design of another vendor looks like was copied by LG and the junk is made in China yet he charges big bucks for them using cheap stainless steal with welds that crack.
He claims he designs and makes things when he just goes to another vendor like for CAMs and then puts his label on them and even grinds off the OEM's part #
Total con artist who makes bogus claims of performance gains with outlandish prices

Best thing LG does is blowing up his vettes in racing that he has not won in years.

How paranoid do you have to be to honestly think that the government is going to tap into Joe Blow's new Chevy Malibu? About as likely as the government implanting a chip in your head at birth...

      -----------

Get your head out of the comic books,
States like Ca passed laws just last year that says they have the right when cars are on public roads to via wireless to query the car for any information as to onboard smog tests, traffic violations or owing outstanding money to the state,
Pass through was approved by feds for EPA use and reason analog broadband was stolen from us and given to states.

States like Ca and others have been installing transponders along the roads solely to spy on cars, proof ?
GM cars/trucks now using IEEE 802.11G i,e GMLAN and new design of tires will come with a electronic path is sidewall to transmit info including speed.
GMLAN is a "wired" protocol whereby GM shares data within the different components in a particular vehicle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMLAN
        • 5 Years Ago
Since when was 802.11G WIFI called GMLAN, or vice versa? I call shenanigans @vetteracer.

Hennessy is a liar, a low life crook and con artist.

First hand a friend of my with a C5 Corvette got conned by Hennessy to ship the car to him in Texas and pay $40,000 up front for claimed high end performance mods,

1 month goes by, then 2 then by 6 months and car still is not done but Hennessy keeps saying car is almost done.

C5 owner has someone local to that shop to go make a visit to find not only has the engine never even been taken out for the mods but the hood and wheel were taken off and sold !

2nd FACT, I was there at the Big Bend Open Road race in Fort Stockton Texas.
Hennessy shows up with a Viper to run the race, crashes it and to find out it was one of his customer's Viper who did not even know the car was being raced.

Same weekend Hennessy gets arrested for racing on the main street late at night acting like a p$ick he is. He promises cops he would return for court date and never shows up and the following year for the same race the cops were asking all of us if Hennessy was there as they had a outstanding warrant for his arrest.

3rd FACT, we challenged him to a ZR-1 / Viper topgun shootout in 1997, his big mouth claimed he would beat all ZR-1s at the drag strip we rented. He conned many Viper owners to show to this event and he chickens out with a no show and we murdered all the Vipers that did attend who would not have come if they knew this so called hotshot was not coming

Hey John your a con job and you've blown up more cars up then the trade-ins for C4C.

Given your history around here, I'm going to go ahead and file that story under fiction.

I guess you supposing everyone to take your word for that, because ain't no way the 1989-1995 ZR1 is beating the 96-97 Dodger Viper GTS.

Even though back in the mid to late 90's those Vipers were only sporting 450 horse from their V10 the torque practically decimated anything ion the road back then.

Isn't that what it's supposed to do? I mean, that's what they've been advertising on TV for the last... forever.

Though in this case, the .99 G here was kind of in the opposite direction as what a head on collision would be. So I guess they thought someone got rear ended REALLY hard... for 1/4 mile.
Me thinks you're confusing lateral G's, as in skid pad, going round in a circle as fast as you can verses acceleration G's which is what he pulled.

I showed this to my friend and he goes "I guess OnStar is easier than the Death Star. That guy basically said the same thing as Han Solo did. Didn't work for Han."

I'll never buy a GM product with such “luxurious” and “convenient” surveillance. They already have "black-boxes" in all their other cars.

It looks like Government Motors is off to a good start at having such a strong presence in their automobiles. So what, now GM owners are going to have the GM Mommy call them up to check on them all the time? Just one more way for Obama to keep an eye on people by now monitoring them while in the car! I think I will stick with any brand OTHER than GM and Nissan(Nissan does similar with the GT-R)!

      Crook!

What happened is that the first call was disconnected, when he pushed the button on the rear view to end the call. Then onstar called back afterwards, since the first call had been ended.
