VIDEO: Tuned Porsche 996 Turbo loses it at 224 MPH

The Joetwint Porsche 996 is scary fast. Twint scored a world record top speed of 231.4 mph in the Texas Mile, and at a recent run the Evolution Motorsports-tuned 911 managed to hit 224.711 mph, but it also had a bit of a spill. Hit the jump to watch video of the massively-boosted 996 take off like a rocket and reach speeds of over 200 mph in a matter seconds. The video would be impressive enough even if it were simply a standard run, but this clip has a bit of a surprise ending.
About 54 seconds in, the incredibly high speeds achieved by the 996 prompted the sunroof to pop right off. That's bad when you're going 85, but when you're cruising at nearly one third the speed of sound, it can be catastrophic. A few seconds after the impromptu top-popping, the 996 gets sideways and ends up taking an unscheduled tiptoe through the weeds. The video is pretty entertaining, but it's also informative. If you're building a world-beating track star capable of speeds of over 200 mph, don't opt for the sunroof.

If your ever at a professional club like that, yes composure is of essence, but there was no need for him to be so snooty after being complimented.
Yes, good sense of humor as well... but only if he was familiar with them.

I doubt he knew them, he was definitely joking, however. But notice, the joke is on someone else' expense, literally, "I'll send you the bill by the way."
Knowing people with that brand of humor, you never want them as a boss, they almost never admit their mistake, and have a lot of suppressed anger. I'm not saying this guys has it, but that's been my experience.
They are "great" to hang out with, because they can creatively put down people, especially in bars. If you are into that sort of thing, I'm not.

The crosswind was so bad, anyone with a chute wasn't going to use it. Another Porsche spun out as soon as he pulled his chute.

Fast in a straight line? Boring! It looks like he didn't have the hand speed to catch the slide. An his comments remind me of the porcupine/Porsche joke.

Catch the slide? The sun roof popping out created such an aerodynamic inbalance that it forced the car from a straight line into a slide. You're not going to be able to catch that. He was just along for the ride at that point.

Aaaaand, what don't you do when you're losing traction?
1) Don't pull your foot off the gas.
2) Don't shift down, and especially not in to neutral.
3) Don't stand on the brakes.
The driver did everything but #3 incorrectly.
If I were the maintenance crew I'd send him a bill for ruining my landscaping.
