VIDEO: Nissan Fuga officially, silently takes to the road
Nissan Fuga - Click above to watch the video after the break
You will soon be watching video of the Nissan Fuga running around a glorious rode somewhere empty and scenic. What's a Fuga? Well, here in the United States we'd call the Fuga the 2011 Infiniti M with tiny wheels. Regardless, the video gives you a 98% complete glimpse of what the new 5-Series fighter from Infiniti will look like in motion. And we think you'll agree, it looks good. Even with that Nissan badge and no sound whatsoever.
In fact, we could see Nissan bringing the Fuga over our way with a Maxima badge slapped on the trunk. Not only won't "Fuga" translate well in America, but ever since the Altima got all grown up (i.e. VQ'd), the once mighty Maxima has become sort of a directionless afterthought. But with both the mountain-leaping GT-R and iconic Z giving the Nissan brand oodles of performance credibility, wouldn't a rear-wheel drive flag(ish)ship sedan make some sense? Anyhow, that ain't happening – ever – so enjoy a preview of the all-new Infiniti M after the jump.

It looks like they bought the tooling for the last generation Buick LaCrosse out of the GM bankruptcy.

I think that it does look good, too bad that there's no sound. I also agree that this car should be the new Maxima, it would be a better choice instead of the current one.

I don't think there was any sound in that video at all. Like what there doing to the Tesla, they should put a speaker on the rear so you can play a exhaust noise.

Looks great. Would look even better without the tacked-on Hofmeister kink -- a smooth quarter-window curve like the one on the previous Buick Lacrosse would be perfect.

Nissan, how about making this the Maxima? With both a 3.7 litre and 5.6 litre engine choice it would lay waste to the Genesis in drive and styling, if not even prestige.

Look ugly in the video. Looks huge and heavy.
Maybe in person will change my mind. First impression not pretty.

"Fuga" is an Italian noun, meaning "escape" or "run from something". We have another similar word: "Figa", but this you'll to Google translate by yourselves... Since the Italian language was and is an endless source of denominations, for the global automotive industry (this due to the fact that the most beautiful sport cars were and are from Italy), I sincerely hope that some Chinese automaker will name a car "Figa", in a near future...

Jonny,
I hope you and all the other ignorant people here understand, the new Maxima is the best selling car in it's class. That "directionless afterthought" slaps the Genesis in sales like a red-headed step-child.
September 2009 Sales
1. Maxima - 5,901
2. Lucerne - 4,324
3. LaCrosse - 2,383
4. CC - 2,290
5. Avalon - 1,939
6. Genesis - 1,665
7. G8 - 1,005
8. Passat - 664
You all want to trash talk the Maxima, fine. At least back up your talk with facts. If the new Maxima is a "directionless afterthought", then everything below it is absolute TRASH.

Your sales facts don't counter the claim that the Maxima is irrelevant. The Altima is about the same size, just as fast and cheaper. Those are facts too. That's the point the article was making. The Maxima should be faster, offer more and be bigger.

That thang is krunchy.

Fuga? It should be called Fugly!
That grill is too tall and doesn't fit in with the lines of the car.

It looks heavy and blundering riding on the tiny wheels. Too curvy, too big looking and the wheels are too small/narrow.

Yup, Infiniti's still a Nissan.
