OC 2009: 2010 Toyota 4Runner makes auto show debut in Anaheim

Looks like Anaheim was the next stop on the wagontrain from the Texas State Fair this year, at least for a couple of 2010 trucks we had been waiting to see in person. At the 2009 OC Auto Show in Anaheim, we saw not just the 2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup, but also the 2010 Toyota 4Runner. This wider and longer 4Runner offers a third row of seats inside and an optional 2.7-liter 4-cylinder underhood. Of course, you can always stick with the 4.0-liter V6, which pumps out a healthy 270 hp. We're not sure how many true SUV buyers are left given current economic condition and ongoing environmental debate, but the few who are out should probably keep this new 4Runner or their short list.

But dang that's ugly.
Why does it remind me of the Saab version of the TrailBlazer?

It reminds me of the new Mitsubishi Outlander more.

U Kidding? This SUV is handsome, one of the best looking Toyotas ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
50 x better than the fat, bloated Sequoia.

and I can't believe those who said it looks good
go get an eye exam ASAP
I can't believe how they screwed this up - worst itteration fo the 4Runner, I bet in after ~ 60k miles this will cost less than the older generation with $80k miles on it
just cause is so damn ugly

It's just a blockier version of the current one. Definitely based off the GMC Terrain.

Looks like it's made out of Legos.

It's an awkward imitation of the Terrain, definitely. Or not so much the Terrain, but the Terra concept of 2002.

Sadly (but not surprisingly), it took GM as long to get the design to market as it took Toyota to steal it.

Uh-Oh...
Here we go again.. strings of couch car design critics going at it again, putting their hearts out trying to analyze and compare single line or graphic of a car to the other...
Monica Dickey 12:47AM (10/19/2009)
haha yeah. A little too blocky for my tastes at first glance but maybe it will grow on me. Seems like a lot of new cars are going a bit more blocky and having a grill slit like that.

Ooh, I also see elements of the 1886 Daimler Motor Carriage as it also has four wheels, an engine, and a seat.

Haha, I just got home from there. Didn't even see the 4 runner, oh well I'm sure I'll see a million of them a year from now

Hmmmm....let me leave it at this. It looks better than the Sequoia.
