Just as we suspected: SVT Raptor minus 1980s decals = More awesome
2010 Ford SVT Raptor at Latemodel Restoration Supply - Click above for high-res gallery
If you read some of the model-specific buff books like Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords (raises hand), you're probably familiar with Latemodel Restoration Supply, which always has a multi-page ad in the mag touting its wares. Earlier this week, a shiny new Ford F-150 SVT Raptor visited the retailer's HQ. Photos were taken and posted to Flickr, where we saw them and decided they were definitely worth sharing. The Raptor is interesting on three levels. First off, it's a Raptor. Secondly, it's finished in Blue Flame -- a color that looks extremely good on this truck. (Frankly, we're tired of seeing the orange ones.) Finally, this particular machine rolls without the cheesy, '80s-looking factory bed-side graphics package. End result: a Raptor that's clean and mean. Clearly, this is the way to do it.

I was completely happy with my 2005 Supercab till I saw this thing. Now, I'm drawing little hearts in my notebook during meetings, with "Cash + Raptor" written inside.
I'm more twitterpated then a 16 year old girl on her first summer in Paris.
*Sigh* Oh if only I had 40 grand floating around.

Maybe aftermarket dirt stickers will do the trick ;)

save for the grill, that is a pretty cool truck.

GRILLE!
and I like the grille on this.

Yeah, the grille makes this car.
Jeep needs to take a few styling cues from this truck. I feel Jeep's lost its way recently.

Love the color! Very nice looking truck, can't wait to see how they are with the 6.2L.
I wonder if it would be too much to ask for Ford to bring out a "Raptor-ized" version of the Expedition? It would be nice to see that SUV gain back a bit of it's off-road prowess. It's annoying that it can't even be bought with a limited-slip rear anymore.

back in the days of the Lightning, Ford made a concept called the thunder. Essentially a Lightning-milled Expedition. Obviously, It never made it to production, but it was a cool idea.
So all of the L enthusiasts were sufficiently teased, but that was as far as that ever made it. A concept would be neat to see, but like most neat concepts from Ford (especially concerning SVT products) they will never see asphalt.

Agree. Looks vanilla in plain blue.

It just needs some natural mud

Also agree. Orange was much more BOLD
+ the "cheesy 80's decals" were because it was a RACE TRUCK entered in the Baja off road race!!! Hello McFly... anyone home McFly???

Someone please tell Ford, that they should a wee bit more time cleaning up the presentation of their engine compartments. It's not just this vehicle, the biggest disappointment on the new Taurus SHO, is the unkempt engine bay.
The engine bay of this 2010 Raptor (awesome truck) looks no better that the engine compartment of that 2001 Crown Vic NYC taxi cab that threw a belt on 7th Ave last week.

Presentation of the engine compartment? WHAT? This is a truck that is designed to get dirty. Engine covers and all that rot will just make it MORE of a PITA to clean.
Save your fancy engine compartments for your Lexus or Audi.
why not the LS2LS7? 9:24PM (10/10/2009)
When done correctly, engine covers actually make an engine significantly easier to clean.
And engine covers isn't the only problem this engine bay has. The hose routing and layout could be better in a lot of ways that also would make this engine bay easier to keep clean.

Thanks LS2 you get the point.
fixitfixitstop: What the heck are you babbling about? The engine compartment of both this truck and the SHO are sloppy. I know that Ford can do better, because I currently own a FORD product that was packaged better. So what they slapped a few pieces of cheap plastic covers on the SHO, that is a really nice car and it deserved more thought.
The "Ecoboost" motor is supposed to be the crown jewel of the Ford empire, and this the best way in which they can showcase it?

why not the LS2LS7? 12:49PM (10/11/2009)
Dang, the Taurus engine bay is huge. It practically tucks a 3.7L OHC engine off into a corner. My enormous Audi A6 has a mere 2.7L OHC engine (twin-turbo also) and it dominates the bay.
J 2:35PM (10/11/2009)
The intake on the old SHO looks cool, but the engine bay on the whole looks much more muddled.
You guys must freak out if you actually see a spark plug wire or a fan belt.

As a former owner of an '89 SHO, I can tell you that, while the snakes were very pretty, the engine bay was basically impossible to work in. Don't romanticize the past just because you don't like the present.
