Spy Shots: Mysterious Aspira F620 supercar surfaces
Global economic meltdown? What global economic meltdown? There's always room for another supercar to join the ranks lustworthy rides, right? At least one company in the U.K. seems to think so, and its first model, the Aspira F620, has been spotted out and about by the chaps at PistonHeads.Power will reportedly come courtesy of GM's ubiquitous 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine, in this case bolstered with upgraded camshafts to put out 538 horsepower. That capable engine is mounted amidships and sends power out back through a six-speed Graziano gearbox. Top speed is listed at 209 miles per hour, and we're sure the run to sixty will be dispatched in no time flat.
According to PH, the Aspira is based on a kit car platform from U.S.-based Race Car Replicas. It sports a pretty slinky lookin' supercar shape to be sure, and the company hopes to move ten cars per year at £110,000 per unit. We wish them luck!

Actually, this thing just looks like an Ultima GTR with a different clamshell and more venting on the back-end.

I like it BUT I think it needs a good functional wing. I know I am in the minority when it comes to that stuff.

Autoblog has the nerve to describe the LS V8 as simply "ubiquitous"?
Ubiquity connotes ordinariness. LS V8s are anything but ordinary.

I'll call the chevy small block UBIQUITOUS.
Ordinary, as in being installed in almost anything with wheels, from motorcycles, to model Ts, to pickup trucks, to sports cars.
It isn't rare. It isn't unique, it is an engine that is more than 50 years old, so I would hope it would do well with that much R&D time.
Frankly, I am a bit bored with it. Sure it is "great" and everybody loves it. Snore.
And yes, this Aspira looks just like the RCR kit that it is based on. THAT kit was first built housing a Lexus V8... at least something other than a Chevy.
I can't even stand to look at the two kit car magazines that I can find on the news stands anymore... Shelby Cobras, GT40s, a couple of old Porsches... and small block chevys everywhere...
I thought kit cars and hand-built vehicles existed for the sheer diversity and creativity of having something ELSE.
Replicas are fine... but it is a farce anymore. I want to eventually build something different. And yes, it would be BOXER powered. Subaru, Porsche, Ferrari flat 12... SOMETHING besides an SBC.

Looks like the designer did his job, and then the engineers stabbed him to death with his own pencil.

It looks as if an Enzo got stuck in mid-warp. But I love it!

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this the Korean made supercar? Or what car am I thinking about?

You're thinking of the Proto Spirra.

Craftsmanship looks terrible. Look at the exhaust pipes, they're not evenly cut or fit.

Just out of curiosity, where did they stick the extra camshafts?

This car is actually the product of the developer's nightmare. It's a modified version of the SuperLite Coupe from RCR in Detroit. He ordered a complete, UK road legal car and received an unfinished, underengineered piecemeal kit car that had to have numerous aspects redesigned. You can read his blog here: http://superlitecoupe023uk.blogspot.com/ .

Looks good from the front, but that tail end... ew. I definitely like the motor choice though! So its an American motor, in an American kit car built in the UK. Makes sense. We probably still won't get it here.

1) You would hope that they could move more than 10 cars per year since the average life expectancy of a car's generation is 4-5 years. That would put them selling only 40-50 units before a redesign would be needed to keep up with other supercars in that price range.
2) Built on a replica kit platform doesn't exactly make me want to take it for a test drive.
Thumbs down. For the money there are LOTS of better options.
