Mark Your Calendars: Michael Bay says Transformers 3 coming... on July 1, 2011

We may have found this summer's blockbuster, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen to be heavy on the sizzle and lean on the meat, but that doesn't mean we've written off the series – after all, it's hard to dismiss excellent CG work, the childhood toys of our youth... to say nothing of that siren Megan Fox.
Thankfully, director Michael Bay informs us via his official website that the next installment is already in the works, and it's been assigned a release date – July 1 of 2011. That's a long time from now, granted, but Bay intimates in his blog post that Megan Fox has already signed on for the TF3 project, and hopefully Shia LaBeouf will make the scene too. Bay is already meeting with Hasbro to discuss new characters, so we'd expect a few new transforming automobiles to show up as well.
Here's hoping that they have enough time to craft a script that lives up to the special effects.

the only thing wrong about transformers 2 was michael bay directing it. the guy is a huge tool.

Transformers the cartoon was about robots. The last two movies were about people, love and then some cool robots thrown in to compliment this relationship. Big diff.

I'm tired of Megan Fox and her toe thumbs. Lets get a new hotty. Also when is Hollywoodgoing to learn how to meke a movie in a year rather than two? This way we can have more episodes and the cast doesn't get too geriatric by the final film. Look at Harry Potter, those kids are ready to have kids of their own and are walking around with 5'oclock shadows.

Movies are expensive and my time is short. When everyone keeps telling me how bad a movie is, I don't bother seeing it.

scott - No it isn't but I don't rent from redbox. I will probably see the movie eventually because I would like to see it, but I was not going to blow my money and time seeing the movie on the big screen. I value my money and time too much for that after all I heard about how bad the movie is.

I don't know....I thought the second transformer movie was as good or better then the first.
Maybe UAW members could fill in for some of the Extras slots since they'll probably not be very busy building cars by then

The lack of actual car action in TF1 made me ignore TF2; and I think I'll stick to that...
Plus I'm kinda old for ***ing-off due hot chick in the movie/theatre.
