VIDEO: Gran Turismo PSP opening movie - Here come the supercars

Gran Turismo for Sony PSP - Click above to watch the video after the break
The folks who have crafted Gran Turismo for Sony's PSP have put together an opening movie sequence, and as you might imagine, it is chock full of supercars. And we mean bursting-at-its-pixelated-seams with just about every hot car you could ever want to drive on the road, the dirt, and the track.
The rendered moments are drop dead (especially for a handheld), but even the gameplay intercuts look pretty sweet. Click through to the jump and check it out – it will give you something to until GT5 comes out. Thanks for the tip, Will!

Damn that does look really nice. I'm glad to see that they have a come complete representation of all the car brands now. Last GT I played had no lamborghini, porsche, or ferrari. This one even has Buggati and a freaking Mazda Furai concept!!

Looks absolutely breathtaking. The two cars I'm excited about: Audi R8 GT3 (!) and the Mazda Furai Concept (!!!) Can't wait!

Is it just me or am I the only one who doesn't care about super cars in racing games? I appreciate them and all, but what I really look forward to is driving cars I can actually afford and seeing how they stack up against each other.
A race between a WRX and an RX-8 gets my blood pumping more than seeing an SLK vs. an Enzo, or whatever the match-up happens to be. I guess when it comes to racing its more fun to race something I could actually own, versus something I couldn't even afford the emergency road-side package to.
I found it highly amusing Forza 2 had my first car I ever owned (a 1991 Honda CRX Si) which I was able to full pimp out to something that would toast S4's on straightaways. Unfortunately, when it got to turns I immediately would smash into a wall, but it was fun racing my friends in what was essentially a hot hatch on crack.

Not just you. I like driving obtainable cars too, but its nice to dream every now and then. Especially the race prep variants.

I feel the exactly same way, its more interesting to tune and drive the cars you have owned, or cars that are a more realistic goal, than cars you will never experience in real life, but nice video though.

I'm with you on this. I certainly don't mind the supercars, but I prefer to see cars I can relate to. I love the idea of turning a Corvette or an Evo into a supercar killer.

Nice video of what actual game play doesn't look like. It makes me wonder about those GT5 videos and how much of that is actual game play and how much is prerendered.

My thoughts exactly. Uh, AB, you realize that there were no shots of actual gameplay in that, right?

the hardware power on the PS3 is amazing. i have played ridge racer 7 ( a game that was released two years ago), the graphic is simply astonishing. if the GT series is anything like ridge racer 7, you can bet this video is not pre-rendered.
PiCASSO 3:41PM (9/29/2009)
Sean: This is opening video is for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) Go and the graphics will not come close to this PRE-RENDERED video. I'm sure that the PS3 version of GT5 will come close, but not the PSP.

None of the above have any of the beautiful reflections and details as the pre-rendered video.
I just hope GT5 will look like this:

First of all this looks amazing. If the game play is the same as the video (wich it probably is) it'll look better than GT4.
Second why does GT still focus so much on outdated Japanese racers like GT500 cars and the Toyota GT One?
Lastly that bit at the end with the ZR1 and GTR on the n-ring looks sweet, they sure know their audience

Yeah remember those challenge modes in GT4? Like racing the SLR around the ring in under 8 mins or something? They need one of those in this game where you race a GTR and ZR-1 on one lap around the ring. Have the player "pick a side" and have the computer control the other car and bang out a 7:30ish lap.
If nothing else, it will increase fanboi sales of the game by 900%

Too bad it's been getting not-so-great reviews, at least for a Gran Turismo game.

That's a shame. I was looking forward to this. Guess I'll just wait for the real GT5 to come out...
