Rumormill: Nissan to debut exclusive luxury-oriented GT-R SpecM in Tokyo?

The development of an Infiniti version of the Nissan GT-R has been more on-again, off-again than couple on an NBC sitcom. But while the jury deliberates over that project, fresh rumors from Japan once again suggest that Nissan is planning to unveil a more luxury-oriented version of the existing GT-R at the upcoming Tokyo show.
Reportedly called the SpecM, the exclusive GT-R is tipped to pack the same aero kit and rims as the ultimate SpecV, but with a softer suspension and further customization options for discerning customers. Unfortunately, that's all we've got right now, together with the rendering above, so we'll just have to wait another couple of weeks until the curtain raises in Tokyo for more. Stay tuned.

I can see this happening. Some will be buying this car for status and not for track days or hill runs. Slap in some real wood trim, a high end stereo and some fancy leather and call it a day.

buying a this car with a soft suspension makes about as much sense as buying a prius with a body kit...
give me a break
next up, buy a truck that cant haul squat... oh wait honda does have the ridgeline...

I don't think the truck analogy is a good one. a GT-M or whatever is still a very capable machine. Its not pretending to be anything else but a softer version of the same car. I think a sport truck is a bad idea, a truck that can't haul and tries to be a sports car, but isn't particularly good at anything, but that's not what this car is.
IF that's the case as soon as the GT-R Vspec or SpecV comes out then that should make regular GT-Rs "soft." Right?

Does anyone here remember the BMW L6 and L7? Everyone likes to think of BMW as being brand of perfect pedigree. This is a bad move Nissan. Really bad.

As Clavius said, people would buy this for status and daily-driving (yes, I've seen a couple doing just that here in UAE). If it all happens, I'll be expecting aluminium trim instead of carbon fibre, wing-delete (or a less-exaggerated ones), less-macho-y wheels, less flashier hood vents, etc.
It's completely against the GT-R's purpose, but if they are going to do it, they better do it right, not half-a**ed.

I have seen this car in person and it is incredibly underwhelming. Most people think its just a Z. I don't get it either to be honest.

A GT version sans turbo, with softer suspension, and more luxury features to compete with the Carrera is reasonable.
But the GT-R should always be more hardcore with a stiffer ride and without the luxury bells and whistles.

I agree a GT version with a softer suspension a little more luxurious interior, no turbos for perhaps around $50,000 would be a great seller and would be appealing to a lot of people.

Sans turbos? Are you serious? Where does it say that? OR are you thinking that would be a good idea? I think that would be a terrible idea. They already have the G37x for that role.

Standard GT-R's suspension on comfort setting is already stiffer than M3's suspension setting on Sports...

as long as it continues to fall apart on a track this is a wise move.
cause customers who will drive it like a s-class will hardly be pissed like the rest of the owners.

I think that on a race track and not a drag strip these cars are amazing. Not a big fan of the 1,000 feet. I believe the transmission has been reprogrammed to stop them from blowing up at the drag strip. I would bet even with a softer suspension it would still be a capable track car.

Toyota says it will recall 3.8 million vehicles in the United States alone !
To address problems with a removable floor mat that could interfere with the vehicle's accelerator and cause a crash.
The company says it will be the largest recall in its history !

Owners should take out the floor mats on the driver's side and not replace them.

They did show the other side just 3 hours after this article about the GT-R and exactly 9 minutes after your post . So what's your point about being biased? Autoblog always shows news about other brands' recalls and no, they're not riceball lovers.
