GM issues service bulletins for 2010 Chevy Camaro
Owners of the 2010 Chevy Camaro may want to swing by their local dealer between stop light drags. General Motors has issued a service bulletin for its reborn pony cars that affects three issues that may become problems for some owners. The first issue involves reprogramming the HVAC module, which will reportedly prevent HVAC evaporator freeze-up after long highway drives. The second issue involves tightening the nuts that affix the rear spoiler to the trunk lid, but only applies to vehicles with VIN numbers A9126194 or lower. The third and final issue involves inspecting the engine harness of all V8-equipped models to ensure that the heater hose clamps aren't touching the harness bracket.
It should be noted that this is not a recall, just a service bulletin and Camaro owners are encouraged to have these items addressed the next time they visit a dealer for service.

Why doesn't GM just wait 2-5 years and a few deadly accidents before acting, like Toyota does?

Because malfunctioning heater hoses, spoilers, and A/C systems don't cause accidents.

Well this should be a recall. The spoiler could come off and strike a car behind it and go through that cars windshield and cause death. The V8 engine could have the harness chip away and cause a fire or the engine coming loose or something else causing death. The HVAC no operating during this winter could cause the car to fog up and reduce visibility and cause a crash and cause a death.

careful Jordan... typing long, boring, imaginary stories has been know to cause the carpal tunnel syndrome...

Jordan. Biggest buzzkill of the year, dude.

I actually suspect that the spoiler might become a genuine recall since based on this thread it sounds like it's actually almost a guaranteed issue on early models: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44289
But on the bright side the fact that the bolts fall into the actual trunk lid mean that people will probably notice since their trunk will rattle insanely when they open and close it, although it is possible someone might not realize until their spoiler goes flying off at 90mph.

I think you mean wait 10 years, then go bankrupt to erase all the law suits. Oh wait, they did.

Now I know who wrote the scripts of those Final Destination movies...

I'm so glad I bought my G8 over this car.

Naturally, you would. Because you bought a much better car than a Camaro.
vespid82 9:54PM (9/29/2009)
Yea, because you know no OTHER vehicles EVER have TSBs, right?
In fact, let's check out your beloved G8.
Oh, what do ya know. 15 service bulletins for the 2009 model year and 18 service bulletins for the 2008 model year. Oh darn.
If you like the G8 over the Camaro for some OTHER reasons, fine. But the fact that GM issues three service bulletins for the FIRST year of a car is definitely NOT going to "make your case" in any way, shape or form. But hey, look on the bright side. Maybe they will have worked all the bugs out of the G8 by the 2011 model year. Oh wait...
mikemaj82 10:48PM (9/29/2009)
dude, the TSBs for the G8 are so minor that I haven't even gone back to the dealership for any of them.
Pokey 7:39PM (9/29/2009)
Seriously though, this is about as big a deal as floormats, but I am sure there will be Camaro haters all over this one.

There's plenty of reason to hate. Every time one of these things goes to TSB instead of recall, owners are not notified. That means your spoiler flies off or your harness shorts out, and only then does the guy at the dealership say "oh ya, there's a TSB out on that." Usually that's followed by, "...part's on backorder".
