VIDEO: Rush Limbaugh runs Leno's Green Car Challenge, takes out Al Gore twice
Rush Limbaugh in Jay Leno's Green Car Challenge - Click above to watch the video after the break
As expected, Rush Limbaugh strapped himself behind the wheel of Ford's specially-prepped electric Focus hatchback as part of Jay Leno's Green Car Challenge last night. We don't mean to brag or anything (well, maybe just a little), but we totally predicted the outcome way in advance of the actual running.
No, Rush did not beat Drew Barrymore's time. Yes, he did in fact take out Al Gore... twice. Also Ed Begley Jr. In any case, Limbaugh claims to have enjoyed his time driving a silent electric car in anger and couldn't care less that his time was negatively impacted by aiming for Gore and Begley. The extremists from both sides will now share their radical, wildly non-factual opinionated viewpoints.
And those of us trying to make sense of the world will suffer from both sides.
Enjoy!

I'm still trying to make sense of how Jay, a real car guy and some would even say comedian, can take Top Gear's Car in a Star segment and turn it into such crap as this. SO disappointing regardless of who is int he car; how long before it gets old? If you watched Barrymore she just drove over some of the lines and skipped corners, too.
FAIL!

Everything done in the US almost always tends to be worse than everywhere else...it's always dumbed down and made stupid so people here can connect better. It says a lot about people HERE more than anything else.
Leno doesn't give a rat's ass about people...he just wants to make money.

Agreed Diss.
What a joke! This is an insult to the original. Jay just lost cred in my book, not to mention with Clarkson and Co. The lap at the old Celebration Station looks for challenging! I was excited to watch it last night for the first time, and was horribly dissappointed.

@Ratt-Rodder:
Obonation? Is that like a country run by oboists?
I'm guessing you meant "Obamanation." Ha, so very clever. If you're going to be a chode, at least be good at it.
Eh 6:39PM (9/25/2009)
Heres my non factual extremist opinion: The american Focus is an embarrassing hideous mistake compared to this euro Focus that Ford keeps trotting around in the USA for no reason other than to piss people off for being unfortunate enough to have to look at the unholy abominations sold here.
Guneenya 6:51PM (9/25/2009)
Eh: Don't you mean obonation? hehe
Ratt-Redneck, you really suck.
Matt 11:56AM (9/26/2009)
Eh...
You NAILED it.
MEXICO gets the great Focus while we get a complete turd. Ford NA sells crap. The Mondeo, the Kuga, the Falcon are ALL superior automobiles compared to their North American appliances.
Ford, for the better good, needs to go Ch 7.
MBK 4:19PM (9/26/2009)
bro, where have you been? we are getting this car by 2012 MY and are getting the fiesta next year. the next fusion will be aligned with its european counterpart per ford's global allignment strategy. we are also getting the 5.0 and 6.2 V8s, and the ecoboos taurus breaks into 13s for a huge boat rivaling its competitors like the m45, gs400, rl and a6. we are getting ecoboost 1.8s and 2.0s. ford is already on the right track bro.

Can't help but agree with you, Geek. Don't care who was in the car, the looks on his face were great.
And I would have backed up and hit Al twice too...
erik1080 3:46PM (9/25/2009)
When I watched Leno, I KNEW Autoblog would mention this...
Anyways, very funny indeed! There should definitely be a 10 second time reduction for every time you hit those two. Well, actually, they shouldn't even TIME the second lap. Lame rules, NBC higher-ups, very lame...
bbar 4:13PM (9/25/2009)
I seriously thought that what he did was idiotic and not just because I am a fan of al gore and do believe we are causing global warming. It was childish at best and pointless. All he demonstrated during his segments on the show was that he is indeed a very poorly informed man. He blames the current administration for the bailout (bush pushed it through) and said he would have let GM fail. He also said that electric cars arent helpful to the environment and that is in no way true for it costs less per mile and emits fewer CO2 than fossil fuel vehicles
Chris 4:27PM (9/25/2009)
bbar: Please learn how to take a joke, and please review the 'TOTAL MANUFACTURING COST' of producing electric vehicles. It far exceeds that of traditional cars.
MajorGeek 4:30PM (9/25/2009)
bbar, people like you who are buzzkills do your cause more harm then good. Lighten up or at least shut up.
James 6:15PM (9/25/2009)
bbar...you really pay attention to a shill like Rush?! He's just a political entertainer and you take him seriously, fcol....get a grip.
With that said, I'd also run over bogus Al twice.

A little Oxycontin would have improved his lap time.
