PCRides launches licensed Dodge Charger SRT8 desktop computer
It would be understandable, should you be lucky enough to occupy your driveway with a Dodge Charger SRT8, that the car would occupy your thoughts more often than something more bland. For high-style computing, many turn to the folks at Apple, but that's just one design direction. PC Rides has an altogether different number cruncher for those of you with a browsing history full of automotive websites.
No, it doesn't have a Hemi, but the PC Rides Charger SRT8 computer uses an Intel Core2Duo processor packed inside a unique form factor. The front bumper hides the tray for the optical drive, and out back are all the gozintas and gosoutas, which cover most bases with DVI, HDMI, six USB ports, audio, network, and VGA.
As you'd hope, appropriate SRT colors are available – no beige box here – and prices range from $1850 to $2495, depending on the level of performance you desire. The headlights fire up when the computer is on, and when the hard drive is moving data, the taillights flash, which might get annoying fast. That's awesome! I have an R/T but feel it wouldn't be a poser move if I got one! It's so much cooler than a big silver block of plastic.
I don't know if it's worth those prices though since you can technically do this yourself in about 4 hours if you know what you're doing! A to Z! It's not like it's that powerful a computer! Plus you can't burn CD to CD or DVD to DVD without caching first...
Okay enough with the technical crap! ITS COOL! - But is it worth it... hmmmm

As a owner of a custom dodge charger I think this product is really cool. I went looking on the web and I found out they have a new version for $900 and the unit they are talking about is going for about $1500 I think I will ask for one for Christmas from my wife.

I like it, but it reminds me of this tape rewinder I had as a kid. It also doesn't look very modifiable and I doubt it has good cooling. All in all for that price I can get a good 1:18 scale SRT-8, a 1:6 scale 6.1L SRT engine, and build a much better PC.

Oh come on guys. Enough bashing on the Charger. If this came as my Subaru STI, I would be all over it. This is an awesome idea. Every automaker should make one.
Now if only it could actually drive, and had a webcam and 3G connectivity, so you could actually control it remotely from anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From a computer, or from your iphone!!!!!! And you could race it on those RC racetracks from home. And....and...damn, if only. Yes, that would be awesome.
